Dr. Stephen May, MD

I was referred to Dr. May by two different cardiologists after a long battle with afib (10+ years). He was really knowledgeable and up-to-date with the latest treatment options and upcoming technology and studies which gave me the confidence I needed to book my ablation. Had my ablation done first week of December and everything went smoothly. I definitely recommend Dr. May for an ablation procedure if you need one done.

I have been a patient of Dr. May for four years. It all started with my AFIB commencement. We started with an ablation which resolved much of the issue. We had a second ablation to ablate the remaining nodes and we were successful in all but one node. Dr. May did not want to ablate the last node due to the proximity to the esophagus, with the concern that may be adversely impacted. Best to be cautious. I subsequently had a pacemaker installed and last September I had a Watchman procedure to reduce stroke incidence. This procedure was successful. On all occasions, the entire staff has been courteous and helpful. Dr. May is attentive, and supportive and communicates in such a way to insure I understand the options available to me. I recommend Dr. May without hesitation.

NO follow-up on my Carelink device during this pandemic lockdown . I was cut-off without due notice--no official letter, phone call, nor email or social media contact. I had shortness of breath & anxious whether my pacemaker was Ok, or not. I was not provided with Telehealth visit, although Dr. May & Arrythmia Associates of S. TX accept & advertise telehealth visits.

Dr Stephen May took good care of me , did a great job on the Heart Ablation and I would definitely recommend him as a Heart Specialist. Very kind and knowledgeable and he made me feel really comfortable during and after the procedure.

I was referred to Dr. May by my cardiologist due to an atrial fibrilation espisode that sent me to ICU twice in a little over a month. I was very impressed with Dr. May. He explains everything clearly and it is obvious he is up to date on new treatment and procedures. He performed an ablation and inserted a monitor. I feel better than I have in years. I would strongly recommend this caring specialist to anyone with these issues.

Dr. May saved my life, I wear an Apple Watch and it showed that I had severe arrhythmia that was constant and there wasn't any more medicine that I could take. He recommended a Catheter Ablation which he performed on February 17, 2020. I went in the day of surgery, spent 3.5 hours in surgery and went home the day after with no restrictions. I have not had a single episode of arrhythmia since then. November 12, 2020 posting.

I received cardiac atrial ablation for new onset atrial fibrillation with heart failure. I successfully converted to sinus rhythm. I have had immediate and progressive relief of my symptoms since the procedure. I am extremely grateful that I met Dr May and he felt I was a candidate for this procedure. I was slow to respond to medical therapy. I’m a retired physician and did not know ablation was indicated for atrial fibrillation. I have great confidence in Dr May. I believe he gave me my old life back.

Dr. May did a Cardiac Ablation procedure for me for Atrial Fibrillation and Atrial Tachycardia. He was able to restore my heart to its normal rhythm. I felt confident about having the procedure because he took the time to explain my options to me and gave me written information to take home and read and consider before making my decision. Everyone I encountered at the hospital who worked with Dr. May told me how much they enjoyed working with him because he was not only a skilled electrophysiologist but was also very considerate, polite, and had a pleasant personality. The cardiologist that referred me to Dr. May said that he was "the best of the best" and I have believed that to be true through all that Dr. May has done for me.

Stephen May is an Awesome Doctor ! He Explained Everything as he did it made me feel real comfortable. My Quality of life Dropped when I started getting Flutters in my right ventricle . ( right ventricular tachycardia) Dr. May did my Ablation and my life got back to normal in the 4 hours it took him to do the Procedure . I would recommend Arrhythmia associates of south Texas to any of my loved ones. Thank you Dr. May !!!

I came to see Dr.May for chronic a fib and I was looking for someone who can treat my a fib I would like to say I was a little hesistant but I saw Dr.May. Dr May did not gurantee amything and I'd say I would take my chances and I did the procedure which was successful and I have not a fib since my procedure.I would highly like to recommend Dr. Stephen May. Dr May is a caring and thoughtful Cardiologist. His treatment of the patient is excellent. He listens to the patient. He talks to the patient as an educated adult. He is logical in his approach, enthusiastic in care and informative in his review of your case. After 40 plus years of seeing doctors, I have found few that measure up to the same standard as Dr May.

I had the best experience with Dr. May. There were several obstacles once he started the device replacement. But his determination and tenacity didn't let him give up. Instead of the 2 expected hour procedure, it turned into 4. 5 hours. But I will say he did what I thought was impossible. The first doctor who attempted to connect 3 wires failed. And Dr. May did it. From one day to the next i felt the difference. I will forever be grateful to Dr. May and the team he put together to fix me.
