My experience with Doc Marmer has been incredible. I’ve seen him for the past three years or so. Since that time, my life has improved. The stuff I was struggling with, being the reason I went to see him in the first place, has been mostly resolved. He isn’t the type to take out his prescription pad, scribble a triplicate and say “See you in 30 days” He is a psychiatrist but also heavy on the psychology side as well. If Freud had a cell phone and the ability to zoom, and probably a better disposition from what I know about Freud, this would be a very similar guy. He is incredibly smart and calls it like he sees it. He is incredibly professional. On top of that, he actually cares about what I say to him. She remembers things that have happened in my life, which is a lot more than most psychiatrists/psychologists. My life has improved in the time I have been seeing him. I’m grateful to him and to his front office, Kim, for all the attention and care they give me.

Dr. Marmer treated our son for bipolar disorder but did very little to evaluate him and even nodded off twice during their sessions. Marmer prescribed a high dose of an antidepressant w/very low dose mood stablizer which sent our son into a constant mixed state of rapid cycling. Marmer did not listen when we shared he was not getting better and assured me that he was a little better each visit (despite no med changes and our son showing little/no sign of improvement). Thankfully, we were able to get our son to a new psychiatrist who took the time to listen, evaluate, & order genetic testing. After a year, happy to say that our son is now stable, but it took many med changes as he was dealing with additional diagnoses missed by Dr.M. Also, it took a long time to titrate off the antidepressants due to the significant withdrawal symptoms. Our son saw Dr. M for several months, but Dr. M never changed the med plan after the initial visit despite poor response. Don't recommend him.

What I learned is family and Friends seeking assistance dr. Marmer provides zero evaluations and allows unqualified incompetent persons to manage his clients care. Dr. Marmer would write refills without ever evaluating his patient and take the advice of an interventionist to increase the dosage. Dr. Marmer went to trial but due to inefficient efforts of attorneys leaving out evidence the case was dropped not due to lack of negligence but due to lack of proper trial etiquette. Other trial we learn mr. Warren Boyd has psychiatrist on his payroll she prescribed to his clients without face-to-face evaluations or drug testing. Dr. Marmer prescribes alongside other doctors knowing the risk of multiple medications that are contraindicated, which places his patients in dire risk. The medical board of California received the response too late and said they cannot do anything at this point however what he did is against his credentials with the American Psychiatric association.

It’s taken me 2 years to write this review because the experience was so devestating. My son was a pt for 8 years suffering from depression. On his last visit he was very depressed and dr thru all his faults in his face basically threw his hands in the air and blaming my son for his problems. My son walked out dr told me he would call me with suggestions for in patient treatment. NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN. In the last 2 years we found the meds and support. He’s now working and doing well.

Was recommended to Dr. Marmer after I survived several surgeries at Cedar Sinai. Tried to make an appointment. His assistant cheerfully called within a few days with 'several openings this week'. Explained I was hopeful to work out a pricing with Dr. Marmer given all the expenses I had incurred as a young woman battling cancer. Same assistant cheerfully said she was SURE the good doctor would make time to speak with me to work something out... I checked back twice and was again told how very bus

Dr. Marmer is quite possibly the wisest, most empathetic person I've ever met. His capacity for understanding another person's internal world is unparalleled. Dr. Marmer has transformed many lives, including my own, and I consider it a privilege to have crossed paths with him.
