Great doctor, highly recommend!
Dr. Johans is a stellar physician. My initial consultation for possible back surgery was a thorough, caring conversation that was not rushed by any means. He answered all of my questions and offered to talk to family members if they had questions or concerns. He is friendly, professional, and overall a great person who provided the important information, including the risks, that comes along with considering surgery. As for experience, in Dec 2023 I was told that he performs 2-3 surgeries per day and is in surgery 3 times a week, and has been doing it for about 4 years. It is evident that he cares about his patients, their family, and his staff. He put my worries to ease and I moved forward with microdisctectomy (herniated disc removal) at the end of 2023 (just yesterday) and am on the mend. His office has been very proactive in communications. Highly, HIGHLY recommend Dr. Johans!

The BEST!
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Johans or the practice he's associated with. He's a top-notch neurosurgeon in my humble opinion. He performed a fairly complex lumbar fusion on me in 2021 and I've done extremely well since then. He's an excellent listener and makes sure he covers all of your questions and/or concerns. Anyone that mentions they are suffering from back pain I immediately refer them to this fine doc. He's the BEST!

Great outcome
I have had a great outcome. In addition he did not rush to surgery but suggested a targeted steroid shot to see if it would work. It didn’t so he planned surgery. I had a small post op issue. He prescribed meds and called me to see if they worked. Staff is great, surgery center great.

Excellent communication and surgical skill
Dr. Johans has an excellent patient side manner. He completely explained the pathology and the options to me and my family. He tried the most conservative first. When I needed surgery, it could not have been better. Six weeks later I am back to normal.

Empathetic and thorough doctor and staff
Dr. Johans did not make me feel rushed, and he explained in detail what was going on with my back. He also discussed care options and provided clear steps for follow up. Becky from his office has been extremely helpful post-surgery in answering any questions I have and being encouraging in my recovery. I highly recommend Dr. Johans - and Becky!

Dr. Johans is great. I was referred to him by my neurologist and needed surgery. Not only does not have a great bedside manner, he did a great job on my surgery. He does a great job of explaining things and doesn't rush you through appointments. ***** Five stars!!

At the time I visited Dr. Johans I could barely walk. He talked to my wife and me and put me at ease with his knowledge and manner. Thanks to Dr. Johans I have my life back again. I am forever indebted to him and would recommend him to anyone.

Just an update to my original review..I am now almost 6 months post op. I am still pain free, doing great! I still cannot thank Dr.Johans enough! He cares about his patients before, during, and after surgery! He is the only Doctor that has ever called me personally, to see how I was doing!! I think that says a lot about his character. I will be forever grateful for him!
