Dr. Stephen Hemperly, DO

I am actually surprised at the negative reviews. I was sent to Dr. Hemperly by my primary care physician. I found him and the staff at West Dermatology very professional and personable. He treated my condition and offered me free samples of some creams. Now the skin irritation has cleared up. He answered all my questions professionally and gave me answers that were pertinent to my care. I would recommend him and his staff very strongly.

Made an appointment for an urgent medical need. Informed them I was on straight Medi-Cal, the practice waited until the day of my appointment to inform me that they don't take straight Medi-Cal. Essentially wasting two weeks of my life dealing with constant pain and irritation. Thanks for that.

I went to see Dr. Hemperly for diagnosis and treatment of a skin irritation on my back. He misdiagnosed the condition and did not provide appropriate treatment. He did, however, perform 2 unnecessary biopsies on my left arm, which left 2 deep scars. I have since sought treatment from a more reputable dermatologist, who provided appropriate treatment. My current dermatologist obtained medical records from Dr. Hemperly's office were incorrect. They stated one of the biopsies was on my RIGHT arm instead of my LEFT. This level of incompetency is inexcusable.

Doctor never changed his facial expression. Flat affect. I think that is what you get when you're the first appointment on Monday morning. I don't need to be cuddled. Staff was competent and friendly.

Happy to get you in the office but no follow up afterwards. Never returns phone calls and have never received the results of the biopsy after months of waiting

Dr. Hemperley is "smart as a whip" and "sharp as a tack". His staff is great and his office is beautiful. Two thumbs up!

I scheduled an appointment with his service to have a few moles removed from my abdomen. I spoke to him briefly and I ask to have 4 moles removed from my abdomen using liquid nitrogen. He replied, "We don't do that... It just leaves scar tissue." His website clearly states Mole Removal as one of the services he provides. I paid a lot of money out of pocket and it was a complete waste of time.

Dr. Hemperly was very knowledgeable and took his time to answer all of my questions. He gave suggestions and said to certainly come back if my skin condition changed. For as many patients as he has seeking his medical care, I never felt rushed or as if I was just another patient. He truly cares and it shows. He is trusted with my entire family.

I really like this place.....from the staff to the doctors. Gaby was very cordial and good at her job and Dr. Hemperly took good care of my situation and it all led to a stress-free visit. I would definitely recommend Dr. Hemperly to anyone in need of quality skin care. i'm always a little overly-talkative in doctors' offices and they were very patient with me and my chatter. I'll be back!

Dr. Hemperly is a wonderful doctor and his staff was very nice ! I look forward to my next appointment. Everything was on point.

the only thing I didn't like was the lady in the room with the doctor if I had to take my clothes off other than that he was great

Most complete dermatology exam I have ever had. Caring, and in no hurry to move to next patient. Highly recommended.
