I a 20 year old female do not recommend this doctor. The appointment lasted five minutes just to tell me a false diagnosis and made a uncomfortable environment. Very unprofessional.

Avoid at all costs
My daughter, who is 18, had a visit with Dr. Flax about some purple welts that she's had on her toes for a long period of time. He was condescending and rude. He spent about 3 minutes with her. When she asked him if he wanted to see her feet his response was "how else am I supposed to see the welts?" Then he just completely disregarded them as being caused by years of dance. She hasn't danced in almost a year. The visit left her upset. Can't wait to get the bill to see this "specialist" who disregarded her concern. He also treated her for acne but I have switched the visit to a physician's assistant for the follow-up visit in the hopes that she will have a better experience. My daughter has two moles she wanted him to look at but felt so rushed that Dr. Flax would just make her feel silly for asking so she didn't bother to bring them to his attention. He needs to learn bedside manner. Unfortunately, since she's an adult I could not accompany her but she will no longer see him again.

My tween daughter has a rash on her face and anything we put on it burns and itches. We've tried OTC lotions. He diagnosed her with a form of eczema. He asked why we put anything on it. We told him it was dry, itchy, red, and bothered her. He told us there was nothing he do for her face but could give her something for it on her arms. If your face is dry, scaly and irritated, why wouldn't you? And at a critical time in her life (self-esteem), he couldn't recommend anything? I pressed him, he recommended some over the counter creams which I happen to be allergic to so I told him I was hesitant to try those with her. He looked at me and said vaseline and if you're allergic to that, you're out of luck. She just has sensitive skin. She's that .1% Leave it alone, usually adults don't have it. That was it. Wait another 10 years or so? Really? He did get a sample of sunscreen. What a waste of time and copay. I will never ever go back to him or that office.

Scheduled a skin check with Winchester Dermo Asscs and was assigned to Dr Flax. His skin check was cursery at best, looked (never touched) at skin and never looked below the belt. This with the knowledge I have had multiple Mohs surgeries for basal and squamous cells. A 60 year old Dermo foc should know better, I was just another Medicare fee.

My daughter found him rude and frankly, a jerk. When I tried to get her in with another dr they told me i'd need HIS permission to go someone else! Aren't they at the same practice?! My girl should be seen by anyone she may chose!

He was absolutely terrible. He made uninformed decisions and used bad medical practices. As a result of his negligence and incompetence I ended up with an infection. While I caught it early, it could have been very serious. He uses "clean" not sterile procedures in an insufficiently cleaned room, which is no doubt how I got an infection. Save yourself the pain/trouble and find any other dermatologist.
