And that's about the best I can say about Dr. Stephen Fealy. Having lived in NYC most of my adult life, I knew that if I ever had bone or joint issues, HSS was the place to go. BIG mistake! HUGE!I went to Dr. Stephen Fealy for knee pain. First, he wasn't able to sort out a gel injection that could have delayed the need for surgery. Then when surgery was done, I've had pain every day since for over a year. He doesn't listen when I would tell him where it hurt. He only said it takes time to heal. Well it's been over a year. The HSS adverts say to go to them to live life to your fullest. Going to Dr. Stephen Fealy has basically made that impossible. He doesn't respect his patient's time. I've more than once been kept waiting over an hour past the scheduled appointment. There is never an apology. He races out the door before you get all the questions asked. So yeah. Best thing I can say about Dr. Stephen Fealy is he operated on the correct leg and didn't amputate anything.

Great surgeon but then he puts you on the pay no mind list…. Had surgery went well, never really spoke to Dr after, follow up with PA… next 2 dr visits waited over an hour never getting to see or speak with Dr… very disappointed. 1st visit after stitches removed waited about hour saw PA 2nd visit waited over an hour and a half and left.

Dr Fealy did meniscus repairs on both my knees, one year apart. He did my wife's knee and my daughter's shoulder. We are happy with the results and would recommend him to friends.

I found him to be over-confident and smug about my fully torn rotator cuff, and he told me I could just do a quick 'snip' which would have left me with a fallen bicep muscle on my arm. He indicated I was too 'old' to worry about how it would look. I was 53 at the time and in great shape and I liked to strength train. He did the surgery, and 1 year later I was still in pain. 2 other ortho surgeons told me he did not re-anchor the tendon correctly, nor did he relocated my bicep tendon correctly, and hence I had to re-do the surgery. I'm in perfect shape now. Also, he didn't seem interested in how much pain I was in and didn't bother to check back in. I would not recommend him for serious rotator repair.

Implored me to have a hemi-arthroplasty on my right shoulder. I followed his advice. Little did I know he didn't know what he was doing. Post surgery, I had a torn rotator cuff requiring an additional surgery. At the time the new surgeon informed me Dr Fealy incorrectly placed the stem. Today, I have severe bone loss of the glenoid and require a revision - a reverse total shoulder arthroplasty. I am also informed by a NY based PT that Fealy no longer performs shoulder surgery. I haven't confirmed that view but it is what I am told. I warn all to re-consider other surgeons in NYC. The options are expansive. Do not include Fealy in your decision making process. Allowing him to be your surgeon will be a regretful choice. PS - I have read there is a long list of complaints against Fealy (I do not be place Dr in front of his name because he should not be a Dr.). Stay away from this guy.

Dr. Fealy performed a total knee replacement on my right knee and total shoulder replacements on both my shoulders, all within an 11 month period from December of 2011 to October of 2012. I became a functioning person again because of him and I'm eternally grateful. It's 4 years later and he's still following up with me yearly, and I'm walking and moving my shoulders with ease. Thank you Dr. Fealy!
