Dr. Stephen Clendenin, MD

I am newly pregnant and in my first trimester, and I initially visited Dr. Clendenin’s office for my first three appointments. Unfortunately, I experienced multiple billing errors and a complete lack of support from the office staff.My gender results were mistakenly uploaded to my portal, despite my explicit request for a sealed envelope.At my last appointment for routine bloodwork, I was unexpectedly billed $2400 for lab tests.Although this practice is in-network, they sent my bloodwork to an out-of-network provider without informing me or giving me a choice.When I called to dispute the charges, the office provided no support, and the head nurse or office manager blamed me, claiming it was my responsibility to specify the lab, despite them not informing me of this requirement.I would strongly advise against using this practice unless you are prepared to deal with significant billing issues, lack of transparency, and poor patient support on top of the challenges of pregnancy.

I had an incredible experience with Dr. Clendenin. He is not only a highly skilled and knowledgeable physician but also genuinely caring and compassionate. He took the time to listen to all my questions and concerns, ensuring that I felt heard and understood throughout my pregnancies. His support and guidance made me feel comfortable and confident at every step, and his care during my deliveries was incredible. Dr. Clendenin is personable, approachable, and truly dedicated to his patients. I am very grateful for his outstanding care and highly recommend him to anyone seeking an OBGYN.

Dr. Clendenin is a very intelligent doctor. He listens to his patient's concerns and isn't pushy. He was never in a rush for my appointments and he is so kind and always joyful.

The staff is all nice and friendly, wait times are low, and the doctor is extremely nice. He’s able to read people really well and he actually cares about the patient. If you’re LGBT he makes no judgments and treats you like any other patient. I highly recommend this doctor whether you’re pregnant, just going in for a check up, or want a consult for surgery.

I had the best labor and delivery I could have asked for and am so thankful that Dr. Clendenin was a part of it. I had wonderful prenatal care where he always listened to my hopes and concerns, reassured me when needed, and answered all of my questions. He is so kind and personable. He is extremely knowledgable with a laid back approach that is very comforting as a patient. I am so thankful he was recommended to me by a trusted NP. I would choose him over and over again in the future!

I had a full blown panic attack in the parking lot prior to my first visit with Dr. Clendenin. Then I met him and spent some time with him. He is an amazing physician who is kind, compassionate, caring, knowledgeable, and understanding. He ALWAYS takes time to listen and answer any questions you have. I am a high risk pregnancy and he has taken the best care of me and my babies. I love an hour and 15 minutes away from his office and I will drive as far as I have to in order or be able to see him. It’s a good thing we’re the same age because once he retires I won’t be going to anyone else. I cannot say enough good things about him. 10 out of 10 recommend him to anyone willing to listen.

Dr. Clendenin is the best! This is my second baby with him and he is so patient and friendly. Always spends time answering questions and giving us information. My last birth was amazing and I expect no less this time. This is my sixth pregnancy, fourth doctor and I’ll be sticking with him for all pregnancies moving forward.

Came in with a positive pregnancy test at about 4-5 weeks . He got a blood test. And then a second. No ultrasound was done . I ended up having to go to a different hospital for an ectopic pregnancy and ruptured fallopian tube for emergency surgery . Had Dr. CLENDENIN done a proper diagnostic ultrasound I could still have all my fallopian tubes and been warned about the ectopic pregnancy . Will never go back to him .

Dr. Clendenin is EXCEPTIONAL I tell you. I fell upon his practice simply because I got pregnant at 43, and he was in my insurance network. Well lucky me. He was so kind and informative from day one. While everyone else automatically put me in the high risk category because of my age, he had an amazing way of being positive and giving me confidence, while also being honest about how to best care for my growing baby and myself. NEVER, EVER, being negative or putting me in a category. We focused on medical facts and the care based on that. And it doesn't end with him, EVERYONE at his practice and everyone I have encountered that work alongside him, have the same outstanding bedside manner. I really couldn't be any more grateful for all he did for my family and myself. We now have a beautiful baby girl that is a year old, and I attribute a lot of that to his expertise and always being one step ahead. He never made me feel like an OLD Mom having a geriatric pregnancy. He only ever treated

Dr. C is the absolute most amazing OB ever. I will admit, before my first appointment, I was stressed because I loved my previous OBGYN so much but when he stopped delivering babies, he referred me to Dr. Clendenin and I was like "ehhh I don't know about this guy" but, 2 babies later, he's my favorite doctor ever. I moved away during 1 of my pregnancies and I loved him so much that I flew back and forth from Chicago to Nashville for every appointment and for him to deliver my baby. He is kind, compassionate, super cool, funny and he just gets me. His nurse Ms. Kim is so KIND. She remembers everything about me (including the fact that I hate getting on that scale!) and I LOVE her. Anyways. All this to say that Dr. C is just basically the man. He's my fav. I miss our chats so I guess it's time for another baby!

Dr. Clendenin is so kind and easy to talk to! He took all my concerns seriously and took the time to make sure I was feeling comfortable with the pregnancy process. He delivered my son 11 lb 3 oz son vaginally & I recovered well. Unfortunately we moved so I no longer see him but it was a great experience overall. 10/10

He is my obgyn and as a first time pregnant woman I am thrilled with his care. He is knowledgeable, put me at ease, never dismissed my concerns, and always was ready to educate me in a non-condescending manner. I really recommend him to all of my friends!

Had a great experience with Dr Clendenin. I would recommend using his Franklin office instead of the downtown office. The staff is very friendly and he helped my entire pregnancy and delivery go smoothly. Would definitely use him again in the future.

I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Clendenin. He listened to all of my concerns, I was always able to get in unscheduled if I felt something was off and made me feel at ease when I needed an emergency c-section. I trust him completely, and I had a great experience with him and his nursing staff throughout my pregnancy!

I thought he was great until I lost my daughter at almost 16 weeks. He ended up forcing me into a D&C I begged not to have which then caused me to hemorrhage. He took away my only opportunity to ever hold or even see my daughter despite begging to induce me so I could hold her. Then he refused us her remains and had the audacity to write in my records “adamant about having surgery”. It was a nightmare I’ll forever have to live with and carry with me. Needless to say, I switched to a much better OB when I got pregnant again.
