Surgery schedule could use improving, but great dr
Dr Stephen Clark is knowledgeable and thorough, with little bedside manner, but seems excellent at what he does. Scheduling or follow up questions through the office are VERY difficult. Had questions about a colonoscopy prep method and was provided poor and unthorough guidance (insurance didn’t cover prescribed prep). Spent money on groceries and prep I couldn’t use and was vey late in the day prior to procedure before nurse got back with me telling me to use Ducalax and Metamucil. Would have been so much easier if the nurse had taken time to see if prep was covered before spending money on such an easy:cheap prep! Doctor WAS thorough. Sadly he schedules his entire day’s procedures ALL AT THE SAME TIME, so wait time without good or meds did not a happy camper make!

I had my first appointment with Dr. Clark today, Thursday, March 12, 2020. I had to reschedule on Tuesday because I had a bad reaction to the liquid prep given before my CT scan. Based on reviews I read, I was prepared to shell out $50 for a missed appointment, but when my daughter and I arrived at his office, I wasn't charged anything. Further, I'd read several negative reviews about his office staff/scheduling that nearly made me cancel altogether and seek a different doctor, but the staff was friendly & efficient. We were taken back quickly after completing the forms on a computer pad. Dr. Clark gave me a rundown of my surgery, providing every answer before I'd asked. He was down to earth, clear, and comforting. He explained that I wouldn't necessarily require a colostomy, something I'd been worried about. He's using robotics and laparoscopic surgery to repair a fistula between my bladder & colon. He was very positive about the expected outcome and recovery.

I had surgery and three weeks later was in worse shape than before. I called the office to discuss my issue and the nurse was rude and not compassionate at all. I have had nothing but WORSE PROBLEMS since my surgery with Dr. Clark. I have established with a much more caring physician and team at Vanderbilt. Do not waste your time here!!

At my initial appointment. While he seemed nice enough, he just rushed me through only answering 2 of my 6 questions/issues. His answering service will not take a message even to cancel a colonoscopy. Scheduling may take days to return your call and the lady that finally returned mine was very cold, curt and borderline rude. I was really surprised considering his good ratings. I doubt I'll go back again. The nurse I saw in the exam room that day was very nice though!

I was diagnosed with colon rectal cancer in 2013.I don't believe I would be here today if not for Dr Clark and his staff.I feel he is the most caring Dr I ever been to. He immediately sent me to Dr McGee at the Cancer Center to begin treatment before he operated.Dr McGee told me that if anyone could perform the surgery that I needed without wearing a bag afterward Dr Clark could do it. And he did and I am truly thankful. I would never hesitate to recommend him.
