Inguinal hernia with mesh repair
Dr. Rekkas and his staff were just oustanding in the care and compasion they displayed during the hernia repair procedure. Dr. Rekkas took the time to go over my condition pre-op and explained what the remedy would be. After continued discussion with Dr. Rekkas, I was confident in his professionalism and truly trusted him for my surgeon, and was especially intrigued by the DaVinci XI robotic surgery system. I am so thankful that I found Dr. Rekkas an dcan not recommend him enough to future patients. I was treate on June 05, 2024 and 3 days later I am walking as per request, but PAIN FREE, truly amazing. I can not thank Dr. Rekkas enough.

Gastric sleeve surgery
Dr. Rekkas performed my sleeve gastrectomy in August 2018. Five years later I suffer from the outcome of this surgery. I have Barrett’s esophagus which is 85-90 percent contraindicated in having this surgery. My hiatal hernia was not repaired despite my preop report showed I have one. My GERD is worse now and I vomit almost every day. I’ve been referred to gastroenterologists and have had thousands of dollars of tests with no relief. To make matters worse, my recent EGD shows I have a stricture in my stomach possibly due to the gastric surgery. I will probably need another surgery. I had this surgery to improve my health but my quality of life has been compromised.

Excellent surgeon
I was referred to Dr Rekkas by my PCP for a (large) hernia surgery. He is a very skilled surgeon, would highly recommend him. His skill doing the robotic surgery saved me from having a bad outcome with my hernia. Thank you for being persistent in the operating room, He explains the procedure in a very understandable way. The whole staff is very welcoming to a new patient. He is an EXCELLENT doctor.

Knows His Stuff, Not Just a One Trick Pony
I had never had any type of "procedure" before and was nervous to say the least. From the moment I walked into the office I felt it all disappear. First encounter to the last, top shelf. Most reviews here are for weight issues, mine for inguinal hernia repair. I chose Dr. Rekkas in part due to his expertise with the daVinci robotics, a good choice. I had heard all the horror stories about recovery/pain/complications/etc., and nothing even close happened. Except for a transportation company (ALIVI) complete abandonment, I could not have imagined a better experience, given the task involved. Please note: If you need a "hand holder" kind of Dr., this may not be your best choice. He says what he does and does what he says. Not cold, just professional. Also: A HUGE shout-out to the ENTIRE staff at Manatee Memorial Hospital. Literally angels, every single one. Never ever have I seen more caring and involved persons, and I don't mean just about me. Every patient was treated in the same way.

Dr. Rekkas is a very caring doctor. I had a great experience with my sleeve and hernia repair surgery. I would never go anywhere else. I feel he made me healthier by giving me a tool that has helped me loose over 80 pounds. I trust him 100% with my health. His staff is very caring and you are always treated well.

Dr Rekkas He is the most caring compassionate thoughtful doctor I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. “I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with him and his Caring Staff The surgery he performed on me was flawless and has changed my life. I’ve lost over 60 pounds My blood pressure cholesterol and diabetes are normal I highly recommend him and would give him a 5 Stars rating

I was referred to Dr. Rekkas by my general practitioner as my weight was skyrocketing out of control. I did everything I could to lose weight. Nutrition counseling, exercise, diet pills and nothing worked. My health was deteriorating and I was not feeling well. I went to a consulting appointment with Dr. Rekkas and knew the moment I met him and his team I was in the right place. Having weight loss surgery (sleve) is a huge decision and it was the right one for me. This office is amazing!

I met Dr. Rekkas and staff for the first time in June 2018 after a coworker highly recommended him for weight loss surgery. He is a wonderful doctor...very compassionate, caring, thorough, great bedside manner. His staff is awesome as well. I had surgery in January 2019 with no complications or complaints! I am so thankful to Dr. Rekkas for taking me on as a patient and helping me to achieve a healthier me! I highly recommend him!

Dr. Rekkas removed my gall bladder and performed a liver biopsy on 12/3/18. His knowledge, bedside manner,compassion, and expertise was everything I needed to trust a surgeon. He will be performing a gastric sleeve on me in the near future to prepare me for a liver transplant. I was an Oncology,Pain Management, Yale University Research RN with 39 yrs of experience. I can tell you that I do not trust providers easily, but I just love Dr. Rekkas, and highly recommend him. Thank you, Dr. Rekkas.

Had an excellent experience with Dr Rekkas and all of his staff. I am 6 months post bariatric surgery and have done wonderfully. His office staff helped me through every insurance hurdle and Dr Rekkas was very thorough, caring and careful with his care. As a nurse working in the health care field I pick my caregivers carefully and would highly recommend others to them. Thank you for keeping me safe and helping me meet my goals!

Dr. Rekkas and his entire staff were so caring and efficient in my journey of bariatric sleeve surgery at the end of March, 2016. They were cooperative and instrumental in my receiving insurance approval for the procedure. Follow-up appointments are very thorough and never rushed. I am so appreciative of Dr. Rekkas and his staff for helping me make a positive life change! My only regret is having to move back up North and not continuing my treatment with this office.
