Arrogant and Callous
I saw Dr. Bacchus for some time a few years ago. She flatly refused to communicate with any other doctor about my treatment, explaining that it would take too much time to do so for all of her patients. At the time I was surprised but her explanation seemed reasonable. However, having seen a few other psychiatrists now and having recieved multiple apologies from other doctors on her behalf after explaining this, I would say that it was actually quite unprofessional. Considering patients will generally need to invest a lot of time and money with a psychiatrist to find a useful treatment for themselves, I would recommend they keep looking.

Fine... until she wasn't.
I've toyed with writing this review for a while, but honestly it's taken this long to get over what she said to me. I'd been working with Dr. Bacchus for about a year at that point with satisfactory results. She can be harsh and direct, but I didn't mind. Before getting pregnant, I expressed to Dr. Bacchus that I wanted to try eastern/holistic care and wean off medication--which I'd been taking for 7+ years. I knew she wouldn't be thrilled, but I didn't want to be on medication while pregnant, and I was getting a head start. Her response was to yell horrifying things at me, which are now burned in my brain forever. I left the office shaking, in tears, completely freaked out that my doctor was washing her hands of me simply because I was trying to do what was best for my body and my child-to-be. So grateful that I had and still have an incredible therapist who was there to pick up the pieces. I wish the best for Dr. Bacchus and sincerely hope that she was just having a bad day...

She should be reported and stop practicing. Absolutely horrid. She didn’t want to address any real issues or help diagnose anything. The assistants setting up the appointment told me incorrect information multiples about the appointment itself. I will not be returning and do not recommend. I regret the appointment in its entirety.

I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Bacchus after being referred by my primary doctor. I would not recommend her to anyone because she lacks bedside manners; is borderline rude and condescending.

Excellent doctor. I've seen psychologists, but this was my first psychiatrist visit ever. I wanted to try medications for extra support. Not only did Dr. Bacchus correctly diagnose the type of anxious depression I'm experiencing, but she also prescribed the right medication at the right dose the first time. That's basically unheard of. Most people have to go through weeks of bad side effects to find the right antidepressant. But I started to feel better within a couple weeks with no bad side effects. Yes, she's no nonsense, effective, and gets right to the point. For people complaining that she's not warm or empathic enough, remember she's a physician, not a therapist. She was very thorough in reviewing my medical history and lab work, and she clearly knows her stuff when it comes to psychopharmacology. Her website emphasizes that she's an addiction specialist, which is not my issue, but she's also an excellent general psychiatrist. Highly recommend.

I was so lucky to have been referred to Dr. Bacchus! She is amazing. She is straight to the point. However, do not expect coddling - she is a doctor, not a therapist.

I am beyond disappointed and hurt from Dr. Bacchus' negligence. After two weeks of trying to reach her for help, I share with her my suicidal thoughts and she responds with that she is too busy moving into her new office and can't help. She told me to stop taking antidepressants completely (after being on them for 2 years). I made the mistake of trusting her and in result went through severe withdrawals for 5 days (throwing up, severe nausea and dizziness). The same severity of withdrawals that a heroine addict would face. I call her back telling her about the symptoms and she says something is physically wrong with me and theres nothing she can do because she is busy with her new office, and she pushes back my appointment another week. If she spent 2 minutes thinking about me and my situation she would've known better to not cut me completely off antidepressants because any Doctor would know better. If you want a doctor that cares more about your wellbeing than her new office AVOID.

Dr. Bacchus is amazing! She is very professional and understanding. She actively listens to what I have to say and explains everything in great detail. Although she is not covered under my insurance she is definitely worth it. I was a little nervous seeking help at first but she made me feel very comfortable. I look forward to my sessions with her and I recommend her to anyone looking for a psychiatrist.

I was very lucky to have found Dr. Bacchus when I moved to Los Angeles from Northern California. She does not waste your time by beating around the bushes. She will tell you straight up what your problem is, and what options you have for a good treatment and a better result. She is very very honest and if you are looking for real healing, you need to put aside the feelings and listen to her advice. I have done much better every time I picked this attitude and I have gone worse when I did not!

Unprofessional and arrogant. Was uninterested unlistening to who I am. And what my goals are. Spent less than 20 minutes talking with me and charged me for an hour session. Dismissed me and my case

Dr. Bacchus is great. She isn't one of those doctors that's trying to overmedicate you and turn you into a zombie android. She works to find the perfect treatment with as little medication as possible. Although we haven't quite found the perfect mix yet, I've felt listened to and the little tweaks are slowly making me feel better and my life easier. Thank You So Much!

Dr. Bacchus is smart and caring. She didn't allow me to stay in a "rut" with the medication I'd been on for many years before seeing her, and made sure I was getting therapy that really helped (including talk therapy).
