Dr. Sophie Balzora, MD

I had my first colonoscopy with Dr. Balzora and she was kind and professional from my first office visit with her where she explained the procedure in detail and addressed all my questions and concerns. This care continued through to the day of the procedure, where I mentioned that I was nervous and both Dr. Balzora and the anesthesiologist ensured that I felt comfortable and clearly explained the procedure. The nurses were also kind and helpful. Overall, it made an experience that I was nervous about as pleasant as possible.

Dr. Sophie Balzora, MD, is truly exceptional! From the very first consultation at NYU Langone Medical Center, she radiated warmth, professionalism, and a deep commitment to patient care. She went beyond simply explaining the procedure—she ensured I fully understood each step, taking the time to address my concerns with patience and empathy. Given my family history, she emphasized the significance of the exam in a way that was both reassuring and empowering, leaving me with complete confidence in her expertise. Her incredible team at the 360 West 31st Ambulatory Site only enhanced the experience. From the welcoming reception staff to the compassionate nurses and the highly attentive anesthesiologist, every person I encountered made me feel genuinely cared for. The procedure room was filled with kindness and support, turning what could have been a stressful experience into one of trust and ease. Dr. Balzora and her team set the gold standard for medical care—if you’re looking for a doctor who combines top-tier skill with heartfelt compassion, she is the one to see!

Stay away. She does not care for her patients beyond having them do expensive procedures like colonoscopies. Whether its IBS or any other medical issue within her specialty, she is not interested and will not make herself available. Even with colonoscopies she runs it like a factory line - in and out rather than taking the time to explain and walk you through the results in a through way. She is about making money period not about giving the care, concern, and treatment needed comprehensively by her patients.

Dr. Balzora is a patient, empathetic, and exceptionally skilled physician. She was attentive before, during, and after the procedure. Highly recommend!

I have been using Dr. Balzora since I moved into Manhattan in 2015, had two procedures and it is always done with great precision and care.

Dr Balsora was very disconnected to me and did not have an interest in my health. She was Kurt and disinterested. She did not provide explanations but rather she made opinionated statements such as You do not have to have a bowel movement daily or weekly, unlike what you are told. She mentioned her dismissal of certain blood tests that I had high markers for evaluating for certain disorders, and did not provide medical reasons for her statements. She did not have eye contact. She was unprofessional.

She was forthcoming, precise, eased me into the procedure that I had many concerns over by explaining to me clearly what the procedure entailed. More than Grateful for her understanding what my fears were.

Dr. Balzora an exceptional Gastroenterologist who also deals with patients in a very kind and caring manner. She and her entire team made me feel at ease and extremely well-informed during my colonoscopy. If you are looking for a first-rate doctor, look no further!

Dr. Balzora and team were extremely professional but also just incredibly kind and caring throughout the procedure. I was really struck by their attentiveness, and how they made sure I was alright every step of the way. They are a very caring, diligent team, and I feel very lucky to have found them!

Scheduled colonoscopy. Great bedside manner and very informative. Answered all my questions and was on time and efficient. Great staff too! Anesthesiologist was top notch as well.

I have seen many gastroenterologists over a 30 year illness. I started seeing Dr. Balzora in 2017 when I was very ill. She has always been very attentive, asks a lot of questions and listens to me. She got serious about what I needed to do / change and she stuck with me. I have been in remission for years now and I owe Dr. Balzora for that. Hands down, the best Gastro in NYC!!!

She may be a good doctor, but ... I made an appointment for July 3 months in advance. I was informed that the doctor is not available for my appointment couple weeks before the date. Changed an appointment for September. Now, I'm told the doctor is not available on that date either. The closest date is in January. Are you kidding me?

Under Dr Balzora’s medical care, I felt complete faith and trust. Her knowledge, confidence, and empathy are so reassuring. The staff in the office are efficient, compassionate, and reliable. I highly recommended her.
