Dr. Sonoa Au, MD

After using this office for at least 15+ years she is the FIRST dermatologist in this office I did not like. She barely acknowledged me, dismissed my skin concerns and was out the door in 2 minutes. Zero bedside manner and zero professionalism. Apparently I wasn't worth her time. Did not help at all.

Dr. Au cares about her patients a lot - my whole family sees her. She always gives me good advice to treat my skin problems and is very patient

Poor bedside manners, on the phone the entire time (encounter was literally 2 min). Knowledge base is minimal, she offered no insight or recommendations regarding my chronic skin condition. Didn’t even know what medications to prescribe. She rushed through the whole process, no refills on medications, and I had to call in several times just so that I could get the medication. Will not be going back or recommending her.

No right being a doctor she belongs in a factory dealing with products not people Lacks heart or concern.

Seemed like she didn't care. Saw the Doctor for less than 2 minutes after waiting for over half an hour. Didn't even send the results over to my primary care physician.

Dr. Au deferred me to my main physician for any skin related issues which doesn’t make any sense because she’s the skin doctor. Was in and out within 2 minutes & didn’t seem very knowledgeable when I asked questions. She was already by the door while I was still asking questions. Not very friendly and didn’t seem to care. I waited over a month for this appointment & wasted my time. Never going back.

Second visit was better than first. Second visit had comprehensive skin exam. I have had elsewhere and this one was more thorough. Head to toe. Was asked if I was ok with looking in private areas (yes, I assume doctors have seen it all). Looked between toes and onto scalp. Even “spread” the backside. Biopsied something as well elsewhere. Pleasant. Took detailed notes.

Dr. Au was very professional and courteous. During the full body check, Dr. Au was extremely thorough and conscientious. She took her time with me and answered all my questions. I will definitely recommend her to family and friends.

Upon entering the office in Ridgewood I was greeted and treated professionally by the front desk staff. Also the assistant who helped with registration in the examination room was very polite and professional. Dr. Sonoa Au’s evaluation of my six year old child felt entirely rushed. My concerns were not all addressed bc I felt unable to voice them all. My reason for sharing this review is with hope that medical professionals reading this will be reminded that many patients and/or guardians already feel vulnerable going in for an answer to questions that being about worries and concerns. A little courtesy goes a long way. I will not revisit with Dr. Au. Moving forward, best wishes for the practice and Dr.

I had a full body skin exam performed by Dr Au in March 2019. Dr Au was very thorough from head to toe. Dr Au was pleasant and professional. In the course of the exam she removed three suspicious spots on my skin. I did not wait long after I checked in to be examined. I was happy I saw Dr Au and I booked my next 6 month appointment with her Gene S

I went to Dr. Au because I had sun spots on my face and I wanted them removed. Dr. Au examined me very thoroughly and discussed various treatment options. We decided to use of the lasers to treat the spots. The results were phenomenal and I plan to go back to have more of them treated. Highly recommended.

I was extremely disappointed today. Saw Dr. Au for a possible cyst on my shoulder. She started examining me without introducing herself or asking what was wrong. she quickly ASKED if I wanted to get surgery and did not spend time to explain the surgical process or what her recommendations are. She rushed me out of the office, I was out in under 5 minutes and left more confused than before!

She’s very knowledgeable, and I felt comfortable with her. I highly recommend her

I should've checked these reviews before going to see Dr. Au, or should I say "Ow!". During my complete body scan, she removed some tissue for examination and it was extremely painful. Didn't seem to bother her in the least. She was very dismissive of my concerns, and somewhat arrogant.

Dr. Au seemed extremely rushed during my appointment and did not even take the time to look at my face. I waited about 30 minutes for her and she only gave me about two minutes of her time. When trying to talk to her about other forms of treatment she rushed me and discouraged me. I would not recommend her to anyone.

I would not reccomend her to anyone even if their life depended on it. This “doctor” is inexperienced, unprofessional and does not care about her patients. I do not understand how she achieved the title of a MD. She is a disgrace to dermatologists everywhere.

I? waited a long time to see Dr. Au, and while she was professional and pleasant, she didn’t seem to personally address my concerns about taking care of my facial skin as a nearly 40 year old woman. She only recommended Botox and some other expensive procedure. There was no discussion of preventative measures or alternative solutions. I was extremely dissatisfied and will not likely return myself to this office nor would I recommend it to anyone else.

She is very professional, this is my third visit to her clinic in NJ ridge wood office. She's the best any patients will wish for a Doctor. I will be there again if the need arise. Also, will happily recommend her to anyone, she's excellent with her job and very respectful. Efficient staff, my appointment time, was the exact time I met with the doctor , never had to wait for up to 5 minute, always on appointment time.
