Would not recommend this Dr or her Nurse Practitioner! Very incompetent ! Bedside manner is horrendous!

Never!!!!!!! I had a Horrible experience several years ago!!!!! She did not make certain the medication being used to put me to sleep was working. She conducted the procedure while I was screaming and crying!!!!! She was unapologetic afterwards and I would never recommend Anyone to her. The IV in my arm was not secure and the medicine was trickling down my arm. I begged her to stop the process, but she wouldn’t. She had 2 nurses in the room with us. I have never completely gotten over that horrific and extremely painful experience!!!!!! Do Not Use Smita Shah!!!!!!!!!

I have been with Dr. Shah for many years. I find her to be very professional and helpful. Her office has always been polite and helpful. I wonder why so many negative reviews. I've not once found her to be rude or inept. I feel confident that she is not only highly skilled, but also cares about her patients.

At my last colonoscopy by Dr. Shah, she recommended that I take the "mini-flush" rather then the full flush cocktail pre-operatively to clear my bowels before the procedure. I followed all the pre-operative instructions fully. After the procedure she complained that I still had a few particles in my bowels and suggested that I had not followed her instructions properly pre-operatively. So she first recommends the mini cocktail and then blames me when it doesn't work. Don't you love a physician that makes a mistake and blames the patient? Furthermore, I lost my health insurance and am due for another colonoscopy. I called her office to try to get a cash price for the procedure. I was told they don't take CASH! Are you kidding me? I have been seeing you for years and now that I don't have health insurance you kick me out the door? GOOD RIDDANCE!

I visited Dr. Shah's office on the recommendation of my GP--saw a Nurse Practitioner, scheduled an endoscopy to find cause of reflux. I never saw Dr. Shah until I was at the hospital, on the table being sedated. I am grateful she performed the procedure without perforating the esophagus and made what I guess is a correct diagnosis. Follow up wasn't scheduled until 2 months later although I insisted on an earlier appt and received one two weeks later. She bordered on rudeness in that she showed no empathy or interest in my concerns or questions. I showed her the printout received in the hospital with pictures of the endoscopy results. I asked what they showed, what they meant she said "You can read". I can read but didn't know what the images showed or the medical terms meant. She made no helpful comments, didn't show empathy or concern, and certainly didn't answer questions. If you have a choice, find another doctor, one who actually cares about the patient.

I would highly recommend Dr Shah. She listened to me and has solved issues that I have been dealing with for years, which other doctors have missed. I feel better than I have in a long time due to her attentiveness and care. She also helped catch a very rare strain of Gastric Cancer in my brother-in-law. The biopsy reports were negative but she pursued it because she is so knowledgeable and thorough, and, upon further testing, discovered a very aggressive form of cancer. Thank God for Dr Shah!

She is the most rudest doctor I've ever dealt with. And don't even get me started how long I had to wait. HOURS! She asked me what my conditions were and cut me off mid sentence. I despise when people do this. I am currently dealing with a colonoscopy prep and I called her and she screamed at me saying I called her 6 times (this was only the second, mind you), pretty much called me stupid, and hung up on me when I was in mid sentence. I'll be changing doctors soon!

Let me begin by saying how professional her staff was with getting me scheduled with all of my insurance obstacles. They were amazing! Once I finally got scheduled for my initial appointment, Dr. Shah explained everything in detail where I could understand it. Her staff made my appointment for my procedure (I was expecting a very long wait, however, they were able to get me right in since I was losing my coverage at the end of the month). I am so grateful for all the staff!! THANK YOU!!!!!

It has been a few years but I saw Dr. Shah several times when I first came to Alabama. She was a good doctor who took time to help me and eventually did a colonoscopy. Like I said, I have not seen her in a few years but have a hard time understanding why she rates so low among the people who have responded. I could not find out why others gave her such a low score.
