Dr. Simon Amsdell, MD

I see Dr Amsdell for left knee injections every 3 months to avoid a total knee replacement. So far they are working. His office is very efficient at getting you in & out. Very pleased with my treatment.

My special needs sister was scheduled for surgery to remove a very painful mucoid cyst from her finger. This was after a consultation with Dr Amsdell. After waiting 3 hours in pre-op, Dr Amsdell appeared and announced that he was canceling the surgery, saying the cyst was too small. The cyst was no smaller than it was during the consultation. It leaves me to wonder what the consultation was for.

I have used Dr. Amsdell for knee replacement and injuries from weight lifting and I am completely satisficed with his expertise, Just an incredible surgeon and super great person! We are extremely fortunate to have this man in our area!

Dr. Amsdell is a very professional doctor. He has helped me in so many ways. I would recommend him to anyone.

He is very direct, gives you the options to make an informed choice. Skilled surgeon who cares. Highly recommended.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Amsdell, in my first appointment he says I needed a hip replacement and that the surgery would be life changing for me. While I believed him I was a bit skeptical because I was so limited in what I was able to do. Well here it is 6 months after and boy was he right I feel 15 to 20 years younger. Fast, friendly Quick and to the point

After Dr. amsdell did a reverse shoulder replacement for my wife with great results I decided to have Dr. Amsdell do my shoulder repair. Every thing went great and I have had excellent results. Short waiting room time and efficient staff. I was well informed of the procedure a head of time. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Amsdell to friends or relatives. He has also treated my trigger finger issues very effectively>

Refused to replace a knee brace that they originally gave me. Made me schedule an appointment a month down the road just so they could get an office visit payment from me.

I would definitely recommend a doctor outside of the area. He is very arrogant and seems to want to be in charge of all decisions and care. Withholding a proper procedure that caused more harm is not ok in any healthcare professional. It’s clearly neglect on his part. I would never see him again, nor would I recommend. It’s a shame when a healthcare provider would rather not admit that something is happening outside of his capabilities and outside his scope of practice, and continue trying to make a patient better rather than having an actual healthcare team care for the patient. A higher level of care is needed in some cases, and he is too arrogant to admit that, causing a patient more harm and a patient having to be their own advocate for proper care of a worsening problem. I recently had an initial appointment with Dr. Amsdell regarding my knee. I felt he not only listened to my concerns, but explained my condition as well as my options in a manner that was easy for me to understand. In the future a knee replacement will be necessary, but I no longer feel the need to look outside of Warren to find a surgeon. I have every confidence in Dr. Amsdell and his work.

I didnt even see him after my surgery. No follow up from anyone. Didn't seem to like that I had ANY input on what he was doing to me. I left him in complete control. I am not nor have I ever claimed to be a medical professional. But in my eyes he seemed to be irritated that I even had something to say. Definetly not going to recommend him to anyone. Go to Erie.

Dr. Amsdell is so kind and caring, easy to talk to. Would highly recommend him to others.

Dr. Amsdell and his staff provided excellent care for my Husband . I had no complaints and would highly recommend him.

Dr Amsdell has done a great job with several members of our very large family... And as a fellow healthcare practitioner I can say that he has helped many people around Warren PA and Jamestown NY as well.

I do not recommend this doctor he does not care about his patients .He is rude and arrogant and does not want to help his patients so if your looking for a good doctor he is not the one.
