Dr. Shirali Patel, MD

All she focused on was my needing to loose weight before my procedure. I agree, but after speaking to another physician I know I don’t need to lose the extreme amount she required. She said I should just deal with my nausea and other symptoms see her in six months. No I will not! Complete waste of my time.

With no advance notice to the patient, this doctor did not show up to perform a surgery they were supposed to perform. She let the patient showup, register for intake, and wait in the waiting room for several hours, only to have the patient inquire about the wait time as the only way the patient discovered that this doctor did not show up at the day and time that was scheduled with the patient!!!

With no advance notice, she did not showup for the scheduled surgical procedure she was supposed to perform. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SUPPOSED-PHYSICIAN!!!

Have to plead for information. Several calls to get report that was very important but she did not care. Avoid this Dr.

Dr. Patel did an excellent job repairing my hernia laparoscopically. Very profession and kind. An excellent technician. Recovery time was minimal.

Dr. Patel is absolutely amazing! She sat down with me, listened to all my concerns, went over my previous scans, did a physical exam by feeling around my stomach and chest area, and patiently listened to and answered my tons of questions. She said she would call my primary doctor that afternoon, which she did do. She is very knowledgeable and explained the function of the gall bladder in relation to the pains and issues I was having. She did not rush me at all. I felt very comfortable with her and completely trust her and our path forward. Here staff are also wonderful. Carrie at the front desk greeted us as soon as we walked up to the counter with the friendliest hello. She was that way with everybody who walked in. Also, Dr. Patel's medical assistant, Tamiah, was very friendly and competent. She thoroughly went over all the paperwork after the visit and the next steps. This is a great practice, and it seems as though everyone really cares about the patients.

This was my first time visiting Dr. Patel. She listened to my health related concerns and gave me her professional opinion on my options. I found her to be extremely knowledgeable and a very good listener. She comes across as a doctor who likes their job and respects her patients. I plan to utilize her services if needed.

Dr Patel is very warm and receptive. Good at paying attention to needs.

She was great in letting me know about my problems and also said she will advise in any other matters

She is polite and caring. Her work is excellent.

Dr.Patel removed my gallbladder. She was nice and thorough in the pre op appt explaining everything. My surgery went smooth and I feel so much better. I do have some scars but this normal to any surgery.

I am generally biased in favor of female physicians, especially surgeons who I believe are more delicate and more capable of fine detail. This was not the case with Dr. Patel. I have multiple incisions, two with scar tissue. I have had previous surgeries without scar tissue. Dr Patel was very thorough in her explanations and has a pleasant, although hurried, demeanor.

Surgery 12 days ago. Everything fine up until now when swollen lymph nodes near incision site have become swollen & sensitive. Area above incision has now become swollen. After calling the office 4 times & faxing over a request for a call back, I was finally contacted at end of day by the medical assistant who told me Dr. Patel said this was completely normal and to take over the counter ibuprofen. I never even took the prescribed pain medicine and my problem is not pain, it's fear of infection

Lets start with don't expect any compassionate behaviour from her. She was rude, and made sure the patient and patient's family be scared before surgery. We had no good experience under her care. Definitely will not recommend her or Howard county general hospital for any surgery.
