He was unknowledgeable and uncaring.
When I first saw him he seemed dismissive of my pain and in a hurry. He asked where it hurt and I pointed to my sternoclavicular joint and he replied, "there is no joint there, so that isn't having pain in a joint." I asked if what I could have be arthritis and he looked at the x-ray he had taken, and he said, "you definitely do not have arthritis, so be happy. If you had arthritis there is nothing that can help you." After a month and half of PT he had me do, I was even in more pain than before. He finally had me get an MRI. The MRI revealed I had arthritis in my sternoclavicular joint. He did not apologize for being wrong and he told me there was zero he could do to help me with the pain I had. He was so dismissive and callous. I am thankful that not all doctors are this way and I will never go back to NM Ortho for this reason.

Horrible Customer Experience
Dr Shelby is likely a good doc. He appears to be a product of an overworked healthcare system, if I'm being generous. Really difficult to have to remind him why I'm at the appointment, cover my background everytime. He has been confused and argumentative during my visits even after having done surgery on my shoulder. He fixed a bicep rotator injury. I found the surgery successful in what we were trying to accomplish. I developed what was likely a new injury during recovery. His primary and over reaching concern was whether HIS procedure was successful. He basically told me he had never seen anything like my injuries and he couldn't tell me why I was I was experiencing a large hematoma accompanied by severe swelling. This may indeed be the case, but this combined with poor office demeanor, research your Orthopod. Pass on Jarrell.

The first time I saw him he argued about where I was experencing pain and when I tried to correct him, he seemed nonplussed. I got the overall feeling he had little interest in my situation at all. The next time I saw him, he hadn't reviewed ANY of the the PT notes after he had me attend PT for over a month, where my pain had dramatically worsened. The last time I saw him, he simply reiterated many times that they can't really help me. I've never experienced a Dr who seems so uninterested in answering questions, or getting to the root of a problem. I felt he was indifferent and quite uncaring. He always seemed like he couldn't wait to get you out of the office .

I was a scheduled w/ Dr. Jarrell for a second opinion since the first doc I saw diagnosed me with a mild sprain & sent me home. I didn’t mind to have the first doctor re-evaluate but that is how the scheduling was arranged. After a few minutes and again without any arm palpitation of the painful area; he says: “I agree with the other doctor.” You could physically see that my arm looked unusual & he said each arm can look different. I was sent to PT. The DPT gave me more info than the doctor did! He could see that part of my arm was atrophied and could tell this ws no minor sprain. At MRI appt. I tried to tell the doctor to read the notes from the PT & he ignored me. Said I only had fraying when it turns out that my MRI says I had second degree tears in the radiology notes. I went to months of PT & still can’t do my everyday lifting, have pain daily, & can’t exercise like before or carry my baby. My massage therapist helped me more and could feel just how bad my arm was and still is

I had a great experience during both of my visits. He was patient and informative. I have already told some of my friends how spot on he is.

I just visited this Dr. two days ago. I am going out of my way to write this review because it was a terrible experience. He spent the few minutes he had with me yawnning the entire time. I'm not sure he ever made eye contact. Was very dry and did not offer much of a possible solution or what the issue might be. After only a few minutes he just said "let's get an MRI and I'll see you next week. Well first of all he must not be aware that his MRI facility is backed up for a month, something the Dr. should be aware of when he wants to see you back the following week. It was obvious he was there to just do routine checks and no more, didn't care. He did share he has an 18 month old at home which I guess was to explain his continuous yawning. I have canceled my follow up appt. and plan to pick up my X-rays and go see a real Dr.

Very Unhappy Patient – Nov 06, 2019

Dr. Shelby Jarrell did my wrist surgery (distal radius fracture) and everything he did was "picture-perfect." He is very meticulouos and very much a perfectionist with my surgical procedure. He is very down to business, through, easy to communicate with and I really appreciate his professionalism and attention to every detail. Great result and I highly recommend this truly gifted surgeon.

I read one excellent and one bad review about this doctor. The one thing they had in common was the fact that Dr. Jarrell is very to-the-point. I did not find him rude at all like the person who left the negative review. Dr. Jarrell was very professional and got right down to business and even assured me I'd be fine, as he could clearly see how nervous I was. His surgery schedule was full so he quickly set me up with another surgeon for the following week. I very much appreciate Dr. Jarrell.

One of the worst experiences I've had with a doctor in my entire life. The minute he walked in the door he was blatantly rude and disrespectful towards my mother and I. He didn't seem to care about my situation at all, he did however criticize/judge me for injuring myself so badly. I will never be seeing him again.
