A few days before my cataract surgery, I was quite anxious. I went to a salon to cut my hair very short, thinking I might not be able to shampoo my hair for sometime. The one haircut lady told me to exercise caution, she had a client after surgery ended up with teary eyes, another lady chimed in and said a friend of hers had a 8 hour long cataract surgery due to complications. Make sure your doctor is great, the two said. The conversation added much to my anxieties!I pored over Dr Lin’s many 5 star Google reviews and was quite relieved that none of what the lady said happened. I also watched Dr Lins YouTube videos and found him at the forefront of the medical technologies.Two weeks before surgeries, his team, Dr Lin, Dr Khorrami and Dr Sam examined my eyes and gave me options to choose the different lens ( IOL). I’m so happy and thankful for genius Dr. Shawn Lin and his impeccable team, improved vision for my 70 year young left eye from 20/30 to 20/15 (better than ever, better than 20/20), it far exceeded my expectations to say the least. It’s a miracle after needing glasses to see from 12, contacts from 18, back to glasses after retiring,10 years ago my right eye got mono focal IOL for distance, due to concerns about hallow from multi focal IOL. I decided to go for multi focal IOL, after reading one review here stated no hallow from multi focal IOL now, but in my case, if I close my right eye, in comparison there’s still slight hallow for my left eye when driving at night,, thanks to mono vision, my right eye would make the hallow disappear, perfect. Other than sunglasses, I’m extremely happy I don’t need any glasses, for even the smallest small prints! The freedom from glasses is well worth the $3600 extra fees, Medicare won’t cover for cataract surgery.

Dr. Shawn Lin was the miracle I was waiting for. Multiple Doctors told me there was nothing they could do to help me; then, a friend urged me to meet with Dr. Lin. After my examination, Dr. Lin said the four words I prayed he would say, "I can help you," and he did! I am so grateful! Dr. Lin excitedly presented a clear solution, with results that I could expect after the procedure, ensuring I understood my course of treatment. It was clear that my eye health and care were his primary concern. He was comforting, and his bedside manner was phenomenal before, during, and after the procedure. I received regular video updates that prepared me for the procedure and aftercare. The staff is terrific too! I am so grateful I listened to my friend and made an appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Shawn Lin. He is an excellent, caring, and knowledgeable doctor who gave me hope and restored my faith and trust in doctors. He is the absolute best!

Very good, Dr. Lin truly is professional and personable! The cataract procedure was better the expected! Especially since my eye has an injury. Dr. Lin is also supported by an excellent staff from checkin to being wheeled out to the car when the process is completed.

Every surgeon I consulted on the East Coast wouldn’t touch the cataract in my left eye, claiming its removal would be “too risky”. (Damage to my retina from shingles was a factor.) However, after moving to LA, I was referred to Dr. Lin, by a colleague of Dr. Lin’s who claimed he was a “whiz kid”. Dr. Lin calmly gave me his expert opinion that I am a fine candidate for cataract surgery and talked me through the options. I had surgery yesterday and have already gone from 20/600 to 20/60 vision with the expectation it will only improve! The entire experience was amazing and the UCLA staff is exemplary. I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Lin. Don’t delay sight-saving surgery, go see Dr. Lin.

I was in search of a new ophthalmologist earlier this year and am very fortunate to have learned about Dr. Lin. Upon becoming a new patient of his, I immediately had the confidence in him as an outstanding professional who is extremely knowledgeable with great expertise in his field. I underwent cataract surgeries this past month and everything was absolutely seamless from beginning to end. The experience at UCLA Stein Eye Institute was wonderful, and especially during this challenging time of the pandemic. Dr. Lin is extremely responsive to all questions and concerns, and I am lucky to have him as my doctor.

I was referred to UCLA by my regular ophthalmologist because I needed a specialist. I was extremely fortunate to meet Dr. Shawn Lin (UCLA 310-206-7955). I highly recommend him. From my initial consultation to 3 months of follow up appointments Dr. Lin made the process of having cataract surgery informative, thorough, smooth and anxiety free. He answered all my questions (I had two pages of questions). Not once did he get impatient. His calm demeanor and surgical expertise are unsurpassed by any I have experienced. He allows you to text, call or email him if you have any concerns. More importantly he answers as soon as possible. He has only your best interest at heart. He wants you to have a successful outcome. Because I live in Ventura County his Calabasas office made pre and post visits convenient. His office staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. I had cataract surgery at the UCLA Jules Stein clinic two months ago. My experience was totally satisfactory. Dr. Shawn Lin made me feel at ease at all times, answered all my questions, even told me to text him directly if necessary, which I did a couple of times, and he replied right away.
