I feel scammed.
Started seeing her because of fecal incontinence, had a bunch of tests and she recommended a sacral nerve stimulator, said I was a good candidate. I had a severe injury giving birth to my first child and had 4th degree tear. Injury was in 1990. She never explained to me what a sacral nerve stimulator would specifically do for me. Just a vague description saying it 'could' help strengthen your muscles. I had the surgery because I was desperate for help. Jumped through all the hoops. Did all that she asked with zero improvement. Little did I know that a SNS stimulates only the right side of your pelvic floor muscles 'maybe'. If I would have known this beforehand, I would have never had the surgery. Minutely stronger pelvic floor muscles on 50% of your right-side pelvic floor doesn't stop bowels movements from moving past a severely injured anal sphincter. She was also very demeaning to me at least 2 of my visits. I feel scammed. Wouldn't recommend her for anything.

Horrible
She was condescending, arrogant and worst of all did a rectal exam with an instrument without asking my permission or telling me what she was doing. When I told her that I was interested in alternative treatments and not surgery right away, she left the room abruptly.

This has been my experiences for 3 visits. I am still debating on Dr Lorenzo and going forward with her quick and rushed options she has given me. I have read many bad reviews on her. I can relate to lots of these bad reviews. She doesn't show compassion, she rushes through the appointment and doesn't seem interested in hearing much of anything from the patient. She sticks you in a room to watch a video and that's it, the video is doing all the talking for her. She's on to another patient. Listen and answer questions is definitely not a quality she possess. She seems rude or maybe very unhappy with her job or life. I am not sure what I am going to do? It is hard to trust a Doctor with so many bad qualities.

No compassion or interest in the patient
Dr. Lorenzo has little compassion and seems only interested in getting through the appointment. She follows a strict script and doesn't appear to like being asked questions. I was nervous and said so and she responded in an accusatory manner instead of with sympathy. Has she forgotten that gastro-intestinal issues are difficult for most people? Has she forgotten her patients are people? As many have commented, I had to watch 2 videos with no additional time to ask questions. She also suggested the cotton ball to keep leakage at a minimum. I followed her treatment directions, but it resulted in more problems.

I would have preferred Dr Lorenzo’s explaining the procedure to me personally instead of sticking me in a room to watch a video on a tv screen. No way to ask questions. By the time the video was over she was on to the next patient. The video was not a replacement for interaction with the doctor. I really had no idea what I was signing up for. Also I was not prepared for how painful the procedure was. She seemed so robotic when speaking that I never felt like there was a time to say anything. I don’t think developing rapport with her patients seemed important to her.

Receptionist staff was wonderful & courteous. The nurse who took me & my son to the room was professional & courteous. We were never advised we had to wear a mask during the 45 minute wait. Once we were in the room, the nurse came and took my sons vitals & was courteous and professional. I stepped out to use the restroom, upon returning a nurse at the desk asked if I had a mask. I told her I did have one and it was in the room. She replied in a very rude tone, “Well I suggest you wear it.” Once the Dr came in she walked within a foot of us sitting in the chairs and stated that TN had lifted the mask mandate but CHI Memorial still had a mask policy. My son replied that he did not have one. In a very rude and condescending voice she said “Well, I will take care of that right now!” & stormed out we’re not refusing to wear one in the first place. Horrible &rude is the only way to describe that short visit. We left.

Dr. Lorenzo made me feel comfortable. She took her time with explanations without a lot of medical jargon. She is caring and helpful. I am also very impressed with her foundation that hosts the Rump Run every year. The money raised from this project pays for colonoscopies for those who do not have insurance or the ability to pay.

Dr. Lorenzo is arrogant and talks down to patients. I have been dealing with chronic pain for 10+ years. I'm 35. She told me that "my problem" is that my expectations are too high and that I have to accept that I'm never going to feel like I use to. She tried to show how I was overreacting by comparing me to other patients of hers. Told me others would be thrilled with my test results and others my age can't work because of their issues. I reminded her that I've been out of work for 2+ years due to my health. She minimized my issues and left me feeling horrible. I have seen a lot of doctors and have never been spoken to so disrespectfully before. I was eventually diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder. "MY PROBLEM" is actually that my immune system has been attacking my joints and causing inflammation throughout my body. My horrible experience with Dr. Lorenzo made it difficult for me to tell my story to another physician, but I'm glad I did, because I'm finally getting help I need.

I saw dr Lorenzo and was not given any solution to my problem. She examined me and said to keep a cotton ball between my butt cheeks and also that if i chose a regular surgery i will be in the most pain I've ever had. She did mention that there is a different option but we would talk about it during my follow-up, so no options were clearly explained, but they made me watch a video about fiber and poop and stuff.... after I got a bill of over $900 for that visit, needless to say, there was no follow-up.

Dr. Lorenzo is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. She genuinely cares about her patients. Her staff is amazing. Dr. Lorenzo treats you like family, not just a name on a chart. I would trust her to treat all of my family and friends.

I left the office in tears. The office staff was sweet, caring, compassionate, friendly. She is not any of those things. Arrived 30 minutes prior to my appointment. Wasn't seen until 1 hour after my appointment time. No apology from her. Came in after 2 doctors suggested her for a simple rubber band ligation. Blamed me & didn't treat me. Hurt me during exam. Said no treatment, I should just wear cotton balls between my butt cheeks. Is that a solution?! No bedside manner or empathy. Still crying.

I would not recommend her for anything. Her God complex is unbelievable. She has some serious delusional egotistical beliefs about herself. I had a serious problem going on and to sum it up, she did not want to help me with the surgery I needed, Because she told me flat out, "You will jyst mess it up again". I needed a rectocele fix. I went to another surgeon and he ended up working on me for 3 hours for a 1 hour fix, it was that bad. She is a worthless doctor. Waste of money and time.

Very poor experience. Dr. Lorenzo-Rivera’s staff were all excellent but the same can not be said of her. She has no listening skills , comes across as an arrogant “know it all”. The patient has “no say so in their treatment.” I was feeling bad from a colonoscopy the day prior and She was strangely persistent in her attempts to perform a rectal exam (one day status post colonoscopy). I refused . Scheduling consisted of her stating the date and time as though the-patient has no life.

She told us we should have the hemmoriohpexy since the recovery was around 3 days with no post op pain till the next day and then it would be minimal. My husband woke up after surgery in agony. He's had complications since then. She left town for vacation and upon return blamed himfor a tear that somehow happened which I believe happened in surgerNo compassion, rude and uncaring. It's now been 3 weeks and he's miserable

Dr. Lorenzo is an outstanding doctor. She is caring, attentive and understanding, and, of course, is beautifully skilled and brilliant. Dr. Lorenzo's office staff are welcoming and kind. They make you feel at ease and their down-to-earth humor relaxes even the most anxious of visits. I recommend this group of medical professionals to anyone. God bless you all!

Terrible experience. Poor listener, easily offended when her advice is not what worked. I chose her because I am a very private person. She brought in a male resident and didn't even ask if it was ok for him to be there. I refused to be examined and I won't go there again or recommend her to anyone.
