Chronically ill? Pick someone else.
Shauna was my PCP for over 5 years. When I asked for referrals to specialists, she would say to wait. She ignored consistently abnormal lab results, chronic infections, and more. When I asked to have my birth control implant taken out, she told me to wait. I went to Planned Parenthood and they took it out in 20 minutes. It was bent. When I told her I had been in the ER and the follow up test showed nothing, she wasn’t interested in ordering more tests or giving me a referral to someone who would. Every diagnosis I got while seeing her came from someone else.I got a new PCP and in a month, I got 4 referrals, a bunch of tests, and feel much more confident that my chronic illness is being addressed and solved. Shauna is a doctor to see if you’re generally healthy. If you have chronic conditions, find a different doctor.

Dr. Basener is not a great listener. We have genuine concerns about my mom's care and she shuts us down in an argumentative way and refuses to engage in an intelligent conversation about treatment options and studies behind the optional treatments. Everything from food choices to medicine seems to be hyper-emotional and lacks facts. We have overlooked it and have silently agreed to disagree in an attempt to keep mom's care simple with coordinated records between the clinic and the hospital. When she is super emotional, we have tried saying, let's agree to disagree. She doesn't respond well to this either. While we respect doctors, we prefer they share the actual science behind their opinions, present options for us to consider, and we will take those options and make an informed decision. If that is what you are looking for in a doctor, she is not the doctor for you.

Horrible. Waited for over 2 hours for her to request a bed. Rude, condescending. Never again

My husband, my daughter and I all used Dr. Basener as our primary physician. We always felt that she took the time to hear our concerns and took them seriously. She was very knowledgable but did not hesitate to refer us to a specialist if she felt we needed one. We would definitely refer her to someone looking for a doctor who takes a personal interest in her patients.
