Dr. Shanthi Kumar, MD

Dr. Kumar is the worst doctor I have ever encountered. She rushes after she makes you wait 45 minutes for each appointment. When you ask her a question she ALWAYS gives a smart rude answer. I have never experienced such rudeness and coldness from a doctor. When I asked her to order test she refused and asked me why I felt I needed the test… I just refuse to contend with a person that I am paying to do a service for me. She is a dishonor to her profession!!

Dr. Kumar is an exceptionally brilliant and insightful diagnostician. She has been very thorough with explaining my diagnoses, purposes of medications, and health improvement measures.

Once again Dr. Kumar came to our rescue. Eight years ago she saved my life. Today she gave us answers to my husband's pain. She is intelligent, caring, and I will stay her patient as long as she continues in medicine. As a primary care physician she is top notch. I can't believe some of these reviews. She is awesome. She is the reason we still come to St. Luke's from O'Fallon.

I was diagnosed with Covid in Jan 2022 I became extremely ill and Dr Kumar ordered me a CT scan of my lungs which showed abnormalities presumed to be from resolving covid infection. Dr Kumar didn't recommend any follow up CT to make sure the infection resolved completely, her only recommendation was seeing a pulmonary specialist to get a second opinion regarding what was supposed to be resolving covid infection. She simply doesn't care. I also had some abnormal labs that she didn't mention and I had to see them on my patient portal. I asked her if I should repeat the labs because they were abnormal and she said if you're having symptoms make an appointment. My labs were abnormal....Dr. that's a symptom it doesn't take a PhD to realize that. Again, she simply doesn't care...I would not recommend this doctor.

She has no empathy for her patients. She asks a question but cuts you off if she thinks your response is taking too much of her time. Really cold. She recently prescribed a new medication for me. After taking the first dose, I had a bad reaction. I called her office on Friday. She was not in but I was told not to take another dose until I heard from her on Monday. As of today, I’m still waiting for her call. Indifference…

My father was put in hospice under the care of Dr Kumar who cut me off stating she had to go after answering her questions for 10 minutes for info in the St Lukes system. Worse, could not be reached by hospice for over one hour to approved additional pain medicine knowing this patient would be in need very soon. This is the most unprofessional and uncaring Dr. I have ever encountered proving once again money & time is above patient care and compassion & totally inexcusable. Run from this Dr!

Dr. Kumar was very thorough and spent the right amount of time with me. I didn't feel rushed and I felt she was really listening to me. After a recent back surgery by a specialist I spent the night in the hospital. Her office called me at home a few days later to see how I was doing and if I needed anything. I have never had a primary care doctor do that. I am very pleased with the care I am receiving.
