Dr. Shannon McCanna, MD

He's murdering my son. Dr. McCanna performed a surgery on my son in 2017 where he compromised another piece of equipment and he falsely reported that he fixed it correctly and now my son is being overdosed by this machine in turn the doctors are murdering him to hide they lied on the surgery summary. My son is in real danger because Dr McCanna lied about how he helped my son. Here it is rolling into 2024 and my son still has a compromise machine in his body.

Dr. McCanna first saw me on April 10, 2023, following an MRI that showed a vascular malformation. An echogram was performed to confirm. Without surgery prognosis was not good. The May 19, 2023, the surgery was a complete success. Dr. McCanna was exceedingly patient with me (a very anxious patient). He was frank about the surgical procedure; explained everything allowing me to ask questions to feel confident in his proposed surgery/recovery plan. He is a kind, extremely compassionate doctor. I referred a friend for evaluation; she was very pleased with his plan for her. Any anxiety I had at the beginning was completely gone by the time I was wheeled to the surgery suite. I’m now 4 months post op and have greater strength and energy than I’ve had in 10 years. His staff are all wonderful; nothing is left undone both pre- and post-op. Dr. McCanna is someone I would always want concerning any spine issue. He is an amazing surgeon and person.

Dr. McCanna assisted in a surgery that had compromised a separate piece of equipment located in my son's back where the surgery had taken place. It was improperly fixed as well as improperly reported in the surgery report on how it was fixed. My son now has experience 2 overdoses due to this compromise that we are unable to get anyone to listen because of the falsified surgery report. I want people to beware a friendly face and a degree does not make for a caring nor honest physician.

My experience in the past with neck/back surgeons is their lack of acknowledgment as well as understanding of my muscular disorder . This was until I met Dr. McCanna this week. I found him to be very patient and understanding and acknowledged that my fibromyalgia was a big cause of my neck pain. We are going to try options other than surgery to see if we can get the nerve damage calmed down. He spent over 40 minutes discussing my results and options.

Dr McCanna deserves more than 5 stars he is a very talented surgeon. He is a very good doctor with great bedside manners I’ve had two back surgeries and they both exceeded my expectations. Dr McCanna in my opinion is at the top of his game and I don’t think there’s another surgeon in the country as good as he is. I certainly would recommend him to anyone and have sent a couple people to him that was as happy as I was with his work.

Surgery and follow up we’re fine.

Dr McCanna went above and beyond to get me in as quickly as possible! He answered all my questions, discussed my options and gave me his recommendations for treatment. His administrative assistant helped coordinate my visit and responded to my phone calls with helpful information very quickly. The office staff was also very helpful and friendly!

Going to Dr. McCanna and proceeding with all the medical advice and the surgery was the best thing I could have done for my herniated disc. He was super easy to go to and he explained anything I wanted to know thorough. I knew I wanted the pain gone and I was skeptical on the surgery but now even though I’m 5-6 weeks post op and still a little sore. All my nerve pain is gone and my back feels better than what it has in the past couple years. I would highly recommend Dr. McCanna along with his staff. They were super helpful and timely with all the documentation that went into it and they always kept in contact with me. I would highly recommend them and the Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine facility!

He was very informative and took the time to listen to my questions and/or concerns. He was extremely attentive, personable, and has a great bed side manner making you feel comfortable and at ease. I would highly recommend him.

Yes I would. My back is not a very pleasant thing right now. All the staff,nurses and Dr McCanna were the most pleasant professional people. They made my experience a very comfortable Thank you. I feel much better about what is going to come

Dr. McCanna performed a spinal fusion on my 4/5 lumbar on November 21, 2019. I could not be more pleased with the entire process and the outcome. Dr. McCanna, along with Emma and Emily have been very friendly, informative, and extremely professional which helped me feel very confident. I experienced much less pain than I had expected which I attribute to Dr. McCanna's high level of skill. I am now just 2 days shy of 16 weeks after surgery and I feel fantastic! Thank you so much!

After 2 1/2 years of pain and not getting relief, I met Dr McCanna. He put together a team of surgeons who have helped me begin to live life without pain! He explained the surgery outcome to my family & friends and answered their questions.

No patience whatsoever with my questions about his surgery recommendations. He flew off the handle (yelled, leaning toward me with eyes bulging), and used sarcasm rather than answering my questions regarding risks and recovery time rather than offering straightforward answers. Lied in office notes, so make sure you get complete medical records.

Dr McCanna only wanted to look at one slide of a MRI and that's it. Didn't even talk about my x-ray. Told me my back wasn't bad enough for surgery which is great but told me I needed to loose weight. My husband tried to explain all the things I have done to try and do that but the Dr would not even let him get a word in at all. And then he said I need bariatric surgery and gave me a referral for that and back injections. He may be a good surgon but don't expect him to listen to anything you say.

My name is Brent S. Dr McCanna and his staff, specifically Emma Shulte-PA and Emily Blackie-Med asst. have been outstanding throughout my cervical spine surgery, recovery and followup assessments. I could not believe how pain free I was after the surgery. Emily even scheduled a followup appt. and coordinated communication needed for my employer while she was on vacation. I have seen Dr McCanna for 5 years now and have never experienced anything less than outstanding, service and bedside manor from him his nurse practitioner and Emily they are amazing! Emily or the Nurse Practitioner always either answers the phone or calls me back within 24 hrs. I recommend them to everyone.

Dr. McCann took a cell phone call during my consultation with him, then disappeared for 30 minutes. When he returned, he said he couldn't remember what I was there for, didn't even bother to look at my chart, said "Oh, I guess my laptop timed out", told my I need open-back spinal fusion. I got my hands on MRI radiology report stating I have a mass and lesion and need another MRI with contrast. Dr. M. refused to order, pushed to go ahead with fusion. Irresponsible, greedy, horrible!

Well, it started like this, took forever for his secretary, Emily to call me back after calling 3 times for an appt. She FINALLY called back after I had to go to her manager. I go and wait an HOUR AND HALF to see Dr McCannon. Then he starts talking as if he were the patient. I never even got to tell him why I was there. He wanted me to do Physical Therapy, that I am already in. Total of 3 minutes. What a joke. He is clearly in need of $. Staff said he sees patients every 15 minutes. Ridiculous.

I was seeing Dr McCanna concerning a work related back injury and insurance case. After treating me for a year I went to see Dr McCanna one last time to determine if I needed any work restrictions. Dr McCanna informed me that he did not want to become involved in an insurance matter and basically did not even complete an evaluation of me. He did not listen to anything I had to see as related to what caused me pain, but continued to refocuse the converstation on the insurance matter.
