Dr. Shannan Tarrer, MD

Everyone has an off day. I met her that day.

After going to an urgent care for severe shoulder pain that had become unbearable, the doctor sent me to the ER for an MRI, as he was sure it was a muscle tear of sorts that required surgery. After explaining my symptoms again at the ER, Dr. Tarrer inquired about the location and onset of the pain while examining me. She then told me that it was far more likely that I had bursitis, for which she advised a steroid injection to alleviate the pain. I scoffed at her diagnosis at first, thinking I was too young and asked about getting an MRI as the other doctor had suggested. She said she could order one, but in her opinion it would be an expensive waste of time and money. She explained how my symptoms all pointed to bursitis despite my age and not a muscle tear. She further explained how my desk job may have been a contributing factor. I finally agreed to the injection and treated it as she advised. Dr. Tarrer turned out to be absolutely correct and I was 100% pain-free within a week!!

Dr Tarrer had the nerve to tell me that "we can't do anything for you", what is it that you would like us to do", while a Baptist Nassau Nov, 2021 with severe stomach pain. Without her medical uniform and very unprofessional interaction made me wonder if a Custodian was sent into my room.. UNBELIEVABLE. I will NEVER go to Baptist ER again!

Dr. Tarrer was condescending and dismissive. Her bedside manner is severely lacking and throughout our interaction, she appeared to be in such a rush that she couldn't be bothered to listen to what was being said.
