Dr. Shane Abdunnur, MD

I just knew within the first minute upon his arrival into my room that I was going to be very comfortable with him as a quality individual. By the end of the visit I knew he was also a very qualified, knowledgeable and honest neurologist. I liked that he went over the MRI film with me on his laptop. Then he explained why surgery was not in my best interest. Having explained that he then offered another alternative procedure by which to manage my chronic spinal pain issues. An alternative procedure I was familiar with though he was the first to discuss it with me. He took plenty of time explaining the process by which the procedure is completed and how the implanted appliance works. Finally, I appreciated his professionalism. No 'cussing' came out of his mouth unlike a previous neurologist and dentist that I were a patient of. I have no problem with 'cussing', but it's just not appropriate in such professional settings. I was seeking a 2nd opinion and he had no problem with that it.

Dr. Abdunnur was thorough in asking about my symptoms, and giving his opinion on the next step towards me being stable on my feet, as I have a couple issues that needed addressed. Not once did he look at his watch, was friendly and professional in putting my husband and I at ease.

Although, I'm sure Dr. Abdunnur is a brilliant doctor, he did not address all the issues I went to see him for, like numbness, tingling, and loss of strength in certain fingers on my left side. I did, however appreciate the fact that he did not advocate surgery right out of the gate.

Dr Abbdunnur really cares about his patients. He's very personable and easy to talk to. He listens, doesn't talk at you. He talks to you.

Did not feel like he had reviewed my entire case. Walked in and he said there’s nothing he can do. I broke my sacrum and L-1 disk. He never mentioned anything about the L-1. Unfortunately after, when speaking to another doctor, he said he never refers patients to them.

Amazing doctor in respects to one who listens, has the knowledge and has reviewed your records before asking questions. Great bedside manner, straight forward, explained & showed why he felt the circumstances were that way. I felt very comfortable talking to him & asking questions. Where many left me frustrated.

I should have written this a long time ago but we are still in shock that Shane Abdunnur of Spine Nevada paralyzed Tony Lyerly when he did his back surgery at Renown hospital in Reno. Every day has been a painful struggle for all his Family & Friends & it is never ending! Tony was a hiker, runner, ice climber, sailor, kayaker & biker before he was paralyzed from the waist down by Dr. Abdunnur. The complications from this back surgery have been a daily nightmare for us! If only he had chosen a different surgeon! We just don't want this to happen to anyone else ever!!
