Dr. Shana Dowell, MD

Dr Dowell is one of the smartest people I know and always sets my mind at ease. Excellent communication, bedside manner, and extensive resource.

Dr.Dowell has provided exemplary care and showed great compassion to me through my pre-, intraday-, and postoperative appointments. She was very informative to not only me but my husband as well. I am so thankful to have Dr.Dowell as my GYN and would highly recommend her to others.

My first appointment with this provider, not much interaction. Performed exam and that was it.

Care is always quality at Vanderbilt. My practioner was delayed due to another patient. This was not the fault of the staff.

I had a terrible experience and really questioning all these good reviews i read before seeing her. I do not think they are real after I was treated. Not only by her but one of her nurses who patronized me on the phone. Reasons for 1 star- No bedside manners. Impersonal. Lack of communication. Lack of compassion or concern. Unprofessional. Poor experience management. I was never communicated with or checked on after surgery. I was neglected by the doctor. She never called. She refuses to speak with me. She never apologized. I never knew what happened with the surgery. She works for Vanderbilt but did my surgery at Tennova. My appointment was scheduled almost 2 months ahead of time but had to wait 5 hrs before I was cared for. In good hospitals 2 hrs is the limit. Something was off, I almost walked out but I really needed the surgery so I stayed hoping there was an explanation. I was treated like a number. Dr Dowell had already left the hospital when I woke from surgery.

Dr. Dowell feels like family. I hope she is around to care for me for years to come.

The actual visit was good but now that I have gotten labs back there has been not follow-up about next steps even after multiple calls and messages. Very frustrating

She is calm and nice. Suspects the same as I do with my reproductive issue and will continue to return because I have not had any issues. She was not rude or unprofessional

I moved to Tennessee from Louisiana and Dr. Dowell was recommend to me by 10 people on Facebook so I made an appointment with her. She is a very nice and caring doctor. She looks over your medical records sent from your previous doctor. She is not quick to get away. I really like her and she will be my doctor. I highly recommend her.

Always goes above & beyond. Delivered 3 of our babies. Advocating for a VBAC when the hospital wasn't allowing them.

I first met Dr Dowell after being told by a doctor that I was 4 weeks a long but I was four months this was diagnosed by the same clinic.
