Dr. Shameem Abbasy, MD

The staff at the Swedish hospital Obgyn department are generally wonderful. She's an exception. my prenatal appointments, she spent less than 5 minutes with me. Talked the fastest she could, measured my fundal height, almost forgot to scan fetus heart rate if I didn't ask and concluded that I was fine and stormed out. All other doctors in the medical group had had really busy days but my appointments had never been so rushed. Postpartum, the hospital stay was very uncomfortable - heating and cooling, bathroom, food delivery were awful. I wanted to know if I could be discharged after 2 nights. Every nurse and doctor checked on my wounds during the hospital stay. She did not. Again, spent less than 5 minutes, asked me if I felt better than yesterday. She DID NOT check on me. The nurses gave me medical advices, she didn't. 2 days after, my pain level escalated significantly and bleeding increased. I reached 8 out of 10 pain level. Turns out, I had an infection.

I went to Dr. Abbasy as a new patient for my annual exam when I switched insurance and my old provider was no longer in network. She made the whole focus of the visit about my weight and asked me questions like “do you go out partying all night and eat a whole pizza by yourself?” I never asked her questions about weight loss or anything. She just volunteered her thoughts on my weight (which I was already self conscious and depressed about). I thought she was completely unprofessional and insensitive. I would not recommend her and I never returned after that visit.

Dr. Abbasy is very informative and her nurse staff are comforting. Happy that I am under the car of this office.
