My wife and I were having trouble getting pregnant, which led us to see Dr. Helo for a varicocelectomy. Dr. Helo and her team were incredible from start to finish. Her evaluation was thorough, she listened intently, answered all of our questions and demonstrated a kind and professional bedside manner. Less than 3 months after surgery my wife and I found out we were pregnant. Labs post varicocelectomy far exceeded what was originally expected. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Dr. Helo and her team. Her clinical expertise and surgical skills changed our lives and gave us the opportunity to start a family.

Dr. Helo is a complete professional. She is obviously very knowledgeable about her urological expertise and was able to articulate that knowledge clearly to me and my wife in a way that we were able to easily understand. She took the time (over two hours) to listen to all the details and complications that I had been experiencing with my infected hydrocele and answered all my questions and then outlined a course of action that included two surgeries and a follow up plan. We had travelled to the Mayo Clinic from out of state and thought we were there for a consultation and prognosis and would then need to return for surgery at some point in the future, but she immediately scheduled my surgeries for that week following our consultation meeting. She and her surgical team colaborated on my care and after-care and the surgeries were a complete success. She is also very kind and compassionate and is clearly excited by the challenges of her career. I highly recommend Dr. Helo!

Dr. Helo performed the draining of a Hydrocele I had. She kept me fully informed on the progress of the procedure successfully completed. Follow up communication when I posed questions was very prompt and thorough. I highly recommend Dr. Helo for anyone’s need of urological surgery.

I came in for a vasectomy reversal to help with Post Vasectomy Pain Syndrome. Dr Helo was empathetic, well educated on my condition (she took it serious unlike many other urologists I’ve seen), and she was very direct about what I could expect with results. She did not sell me a cure all, but rather tempered my expectations on recovery. She was hopeful and encouraging but realistic at the same time. She did not take advantage of my desperation (PVPS was ruining my life).The reversal was a success (8 weeks out, semen analysis looks great) and my epididymal pain has subsided drastically. Fingers crossed for continued improvement. Either way, I’d highly recommend Dr Helo for a reversal. I feel like I truly put my best foot forward regardless of the results.

Dr. Helo spent almost 2 hours with my husband and I. She and her team gathered all of the information from us, and were very knowledgable about his chart already. We had a previous diagnosis of Non-Obstructive Azoospermia from 2 other clinics and a failed TESE. The semen analysis that was done at Mayo showed that he actually has Oligoasthenospermia, and we are able to move forward with IVF without needing to use a donor! She also discovered a varicocele that 3 other doctors missed. I highly recommend Dr. Helo. She is kind, knowledgable, and very thorough. Easily the best experience I've had with a doctor!

My experience with Dr. Helo, the other attending doctors, nurses and the entire staff was very positive! I was treated with compassion, dignity and concern for my well being. My appointments were well scheduled and on-time. Any pertinent information I requested was provided in a timely matter. Having erectile disfunction is an emotionally devastating experience for any man, and I would recommend any man considering to get a penile implant to see Dr. Helo and have the procedure done at the Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Helo is an absolute boss. She was wonderful throughout the whole process, but the procedure - wow! I was awake and watched it and she was so smooth and effortless doing the complex surgery for my vasectomy reversal. MY experience with Dr. Helo was unlike anything ive ever had in the medical world. her and her team where overwhelming professional and clearly explained the risks and chance of success. I was diagnosed with NA-Azoospermia and it was a long road with slim odds but luckily we were able to beat the odds and welcomed our baby girl this year thanks to the help of Dr. Helo.

I had a vasectomy a few years ago but after divorce and remarriage, my wife and I are hoping to have more children. Local options in WI were very expensive approx. 12 to 15k. After researching the Mayo clinic, which specializes in vasectomy reversals, I was thrilled to learn the cost would be less than half, approx. 6k. I called Dr. Helo's office and the staff was incredibly helpful answering all of my questions over the phone. After setting up my online account with Mayo Clinic, communication was streamlined through the online portal. I was able to schedule my surgery early on a Friday morning to limit my time off of work. I was out of the hospital by noon on the same day. Dr. Helo was very kind and reassuring in my preop appt that morning and the procedure went incredibly well. I returned to WI for recovery and Dr. Helo and her team remained very accessible over phone and online portal. I was thrilled with my experience and would highly recommend.

Dr. Helo is an important member of one of the world’s greatest medical institutions, the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Helo’s has many years of medical and surgical experience. She explained in great detail what would be involved with my surgical procedure. She provided me with ample opportunity to ask questions. She listened to my questions and concerns and provided me with thoughtful and reassuring responses. This gave me confidence and comfort that she had the medical skills necessary to manage my surgery. Before my procedure she introduced me to her highly qualified team of doctors, and nurses that would provide for my care. I was given detailed instructions regarding my post surgery care and about medications and what to expect in the following weeks. This included a follow up meeting to check on pain and medications. Three months post surgery I have the highest respect and recommendation for Dr. Helo and her team, her medical care has been life changing!

I traveled from the Gulf Coast to see Dr. Helo for help with a failed repair of an IPP that my surgeon had poorly installed. After the repair, the surgeon's sutures came apart within a few days leading to severe infection, his subsequent removal of the IPP, and extensive tissue damage. Challenging as this situation was, Dr. Helo's knowledge and skill enabled her to successfully mitigate the damage and install a new Coloplast Titan IPP, restoring my erectile function. She is a compassionate and highly qualified doctor that I greatly recommend.

After experiencing post-vasectomy pain syndrome, I explored medication treatments but found no relief. Despite being an out-of-state patient, I decided to consult Dr. Helo. During the online video session, she explained all the available options. We concluded that a reversal surgery was the best course of action. I made the trip to see her in person, and the surgery performed by Dr. Helo and her team was nothing short of excellent. Dr. Helo remained respectful and responsive to all my questions and concerns. Although I did encounter some billing issues initially, I'm thankful that they were eventually resolved. After having a failed surgery with another doctor I chose to fly out to see Dr Helo. Was a great experience. I was treated well, and with respect. They had to deal with a lot of scarring and a mess left by the first surgery. Back home I was told that there was a fair chance I would lose testicle if I had another surgery- this was not the case with Dr Helo and her team. Went home with both testicles intact and no regrets.

Being an older patient, I really didn’t expect the results that we have enjoyed with our new baby son. Dr. Helo pulled off what I didn’t think was possible. And for a procedure to be as uncomfortable as this, her and her team did everything to make me feel as comfortable as could be. Her and her team were also very responsive post-procedure.

My Dad was dealing with ongoing urinary track infections, extreme pain and continuing antibiotics for treatment. Born at home in 1941 no circumcision was done. A circumcision was recommended and performed. Dr. Helo did the procedure in office as his health concerns at 81 did not make him a good candidate for total anesthesia. My Dad was treated with utmost professionalism and treated him with dignity and respect. He was very nervous. He came out of the procedure so happy with how he was treated. 6 weeks after the procedure he is all healed and is beyond pleased with his results. No more pain urinating. No more antibiotics, etc. He is so relieved and says he wishes he would have had the procedure years ago.

After some other doc told me my sperm were gone, I reached Dr Helo for second opinion. She is really patient and believes I'm still very promising to have. Her suggestion really give us lot confident and comfort. And it turns out she is correct, I ended have a lot sperm with a small procedure.
