Judgy and does not listen!
Telehealth
Cut me off multiple times during our initial appointment. Was quick to diagnose and prescribe in first appointment, before any bloodwork had been done- even though I shared that had been done in the past and I was not looking for that. Many harsh judgments, was incredibly uncomfortable speaking with her.

Do not recommend
Telehealth
I typically don't leave bad reviews because I don't want to be hurtful to the provider, but I do not recommend Dr. Basnett. I second what other people have left in reviews, that she cuts you off constantly and it is difficult to voice your concerns without being given a dismissive answer. Perhaps the most difficult experience that I had, however, was when I revealed that I had been having a hard time mentally and relationally since I was questioning my sexuality and was pretty sure I was bisexual but still more attracted to men than other genders, and she suggested that I should probably just decide to live my life as a straight person and disregard my bisexuality since it seemed to be causing a lot of upheaval in my life personally and also with difficulties surrounding my unaffirming family and some friends. Personally, I don't find that advice helpful since it suggests that I should repress that part of myself (which I already did for 22 years), I just found her to be dismissive.

Drew conclusions immediately, not professional
Telehealth
Within minutes Dr Basnett was telling me I needed to change aspects of my healthcare that are far outside of her expertise. She started saying I had conditions with no information about me or evidence. The entire session was a whirlwind of her cutting me off every single time I started to answer her questions. Terrible experience.

Avoid please
Telehealth
The first time I met with Dr. Basnett, she grilled me about my history and claimed I had a medical condition even though I did not as I was tested for it. She was quick to jump to conclusions and changed my meds even though I was doing fine on what I was on for the past 7 years. We had two additional appointments scheduled that she failed to show up to even though I had just started this new med. I couldn’t get ahold of her or schedule more appointments and I had the worst anxiety ever. I felt abandoned and neglected. I sought out a primary care doctor in the meantime while I find a new psychiatrist and we went back to the old medication. Please avoid her. I ended up also having to cancel a trip because of her.

Avoid Dr. Basnett & protect your mental safety!
This woman should not be allowed to work with people who are having mental health issues. My very first session, she showed up late to my appointment and kept her camera off. Then she proceeded to GRILL me about all of my life's traumas like it was the speed round of a quiz show and made incredibly offensive snap judgments of me the entire time. She has zero compassion and no people skills at all. She quickly dismissed me crying as being "overly emotional", nonchalantly brushed by my experiences with sexual abuse and wrongfully assumed I'd come to her for drugs! If this was my first time seeing a psychiatrist, I'd probably never try again. I finished our session feeling worse than when I started. AVOID DR. SEEMA BASNETT and thank me later. You don't need this kind of negativity in your life! Someone is out there who will treat you with respect but she is not that person.

Professional Gaslighter
She is very judgemental, seemed to be in a rush whenever I did see her, and according to the other reviews, she loves to stereotype her patients leading to her constantly pushing unwanted and unnecessary meds. The psychiatrist that I went to after I stopped seeing her actually listened to me and told me I actually don't need meds, and that I'm not in as much of a pickle as Dr. Basnett first lead me to believe. Professional gaslighter in a field that contradicts that sort of behavior. She needs to work on her patient etiquette. I should have looked at these reviews before seeing her as it would have saved me a lot of confusion. I wonder what type of vacation those companies are offering her if she's THIS pushy about drugging people up.

Dr. Basnett is always in a rush and doesn't actually seem to be listening. She only takes pieces of what you say and rushes into assumptions about you. She started raising her voice at me then claimed I was being too sensitive. She told me my history was confused when in actuality she just wasn't listening. I would not recommend Dr. Basnett.

It's rather unfortunate as a patient to seek out professional help/advice from a certified psychiatrist only to be judged and stereotyped instead. Lack of empathy and professionalism. Would not recommend.

I came to this doctor regarding panic and by the time I left I had had serotonin syndrome twice, was so agoraphobic I could hardly leave my house and so depressed I couldn't get out of bed til 4 pm. I had to leave work and almost had to go to a hospital had another doctor not straightened things out. I've explained to 3 other doctors her decisions and they each said no wonder you were in so much pain. She is 1000% against benzos even from an outside doctor, loves buspar. Says enough right there.
