Worst physician ever?
It should be an immediate red flag when the patient has to introduce themselves to the doctor.Dr. Tubens has the worst bedside manner of any physician I have ever seen. He made little effort to engage in meaningful dialogue about my health concerns and was unprofessional and dismissive to my concerns, only asking me one question throughout the entire visit. As an aspiring physician, I am committed to treating my future patients with the respect, attentiveness, and compassion that were lacking in this encounter.

Negative Experience
I saw him back in May 2020 at WVU Medicine. I went in for an annual visit, and have had previous abnormal results, so I take my annual visits seriously. When the med assistant took my vitals, I informed her that I also needed my birth control re-filled. He came in unbelievably arrogant and rude and told me there was no reason for me to schedule an in person appointment and that I could have just called in to get my birth control refilled. I let him know that I was there for an annual and needed the refill, so I did need to be there in person. He then argued with me that annuals aren't necessary and he didn't technically need to do anything. After insisting, he finally agreed to do a swab if it would make me feel better, but never sent it for testing (MyChart has proof of no results). He also failed to do any physical exam and acted annoyed that he had to touch me in general. This was my first experience with a male OBGYN and I will never go back to one. I do not recommend him at all.

Dr. Tubens is a great doctor, he is extremely knowledgeable, very trustworthy, spends a lot of time explaining things, makes even uncomfortable exams easier by talking you through them. I had very complex issues other docs have missed and only found answers and solutions with him. I've never felt rushed or like any questions I have weren't important, only like I was in the care of a very skilled medical provider. I hope he stays in the Morgantown area because I don't ever want to seek care from another ob/gyn.

Dr. Tubens addressed all the concerns I had and promptly offered his recommendations on which tests to pursue. I have struggled for years with issues that other providers did not address, but he offered solutions that I was very happy with. I am very happy with him as my provider and in my 5 years here in Morgantown, he is the best of the ones I have had. I believe that the negative reviews are due to his directness and personality, which I prefer. He is straight to the point and is happy to spend time addressing your issues without rushing nor blathering on.

I only had an evisit with Dr. Tubens and I knew from that visit alone that I did not want to see him anymore. This is my first pregnancy after trying for 3 years and having a lot of issues surrounding my endometriosis. He was not empathetic did not show any compassion and seemed annoyed. I took all of this from an evisit. When I called to schedule another appt I asked to not see him and the lady that does the scheduling said “everyone has issues with him, this happens all the time.” She said that she was going to relay my experience to higher ups because something needs to be done about him. If you go into the field of ob/pediatrics/or oncology I feel that you should be extremely empathetic and kind however he was the absolute worst ob I’ve ever had. I didn’t even need to see him in person to know that. Just his attitude during my evisit with him was enough to make me want to meet him in person so I could tell him face to face how horrible he is! Wish I could give a no star rating!

My 18 yr old sister who has been having severe cramping and unusual bleeding made an appointment (I took her); he spent maybe three minutes with her, did NOT examine her, told her she just needed to be on birth control, and ended the appointment. Was not friendly, dismissive of her concerns. Terrible experience

He has horrible bed side manner. Condescending. Arrogant. He came in with a med student and they were almost laughing and belittling my regular doctor's judgement for referring me for more tests. He said I had no reason to be worried, said he didn't need to take a look at anything and sent me on my way. I left almost in tears. Got a second opinion, turns out I needed a biopsy and there were concerns. It would have been nice if he would have listened and done what was needed.

Terrible bedside manner. Over the course of three appointments he spent maybe 3-4 minutes each time with me and swear he would roll his eyes at my questions. Very unnerving for a woman carrying her first child. He's a competent doctor but very arrogant and condescending. I could not imagine having him deliver my child. Find a different doctor at the Olson Center or just switch to a different clinic if you want satisfactory care. His nurses were lovely though.

Horrible bedside manner. Has zero recall of patient history. Does not listen to symptoms or care. Has a very arrogant attitute and ego. Office does not call back. I have many specific complaints and am filing a formal complaint with Gifford medical center.
