I've never had major surgery before this one and was quite fearful of the prospect. Dr. Marvil's caring, his explanations of what to expect, and his personal sharing gave me courage and confidence to proceed. Post-surgery, I couldn't be more grateful that I did. His skill improved the quality of my life 100 per cent!

I had a knee replacement done but Dr. Marvin and team. My result has been marginal at best. Compared to my first knee replacement, not done by Dr. Marvil, his work was not as good. No matter how hard I have worked to restore full function to Dr. Marvil’s knee, I have been unable to achieve that. I was able to achieve that with my first knee. Further, 15 months after surgery, I still experience a surprising amount of pain with Dr. Marvil’s knee. This has not been the case with my first knee done elsewhere. If I could make this choice again, knowing what I now know, I would not choose Dr. Marvil and associates.

Five years ago today 6/19/2019, my femoral nerve was severed during a total right hip replacement performed by Sean Marvil. As of today, I need a walker or cane and brace at all times to walk. Not the outcome I expected. Lizabeth Roberts

I recently underwent a stage 2 revision after blowing out my ACL for the second time skiing. The first surgery entailed a bone graft with a follow up revision after 10 months which I decided to go a little further our to travel and make sure the bone set. Dr. Marvil is an absolute magician, and class-act of a human being. His staff is the same. The whole procedure couldn't have gone better and I my knee feels stronger than ever after only 3 weeks of surgery, well on my way to getting back on the slopes and the soccer field. I was told to receive multiple opinions by other surgeons, but I refused, and I'm glad I did so. The patience, precision, and professionalism of Dr. Marvil and his staff is exemplary and impressive. I couldn't reccommend Dr. Marvil and Taos Orthopedic enough.

Fellows did 90%
I saw Marvil in person 4 times during 2.5 months of: original hip replaced, got infected, spacer hip put in w/antibiotics, in/out of hospital, emergency room visit & last appt. Fellows did almost 100% of patient/doctor interaction-one saying one thing and the other something else. No credence given to pain levels, my statements that something was wrong, nor acknowledgement after I contacted him regarding the referred doctor's lack of interest of moving things along. I went to Dr. who did my right hip 2 years ago: called, got in next day, arranged for xrays, blood tests & aspiration(which he did it himself) got me scheduled for revision surgery, saw me every day in hospital, scheduled xrays post-op, listened-I felt respected. The spacer hip prosthetic was not done correctly and what should have been a 45 min hip replacement last more than 2 hours w/ a result left leg is now 3/4 inch longer than right and long recovery. I do not recommend him.

I had a total knee replacemnt in October of 2022. I was able to walk without a walker after the first day. After the third month I was walking pain free and the knee felt amazing. After six months I was playing tennis and loving life. My quality of life has improved 100% and I owe it to Dr. Marvil and his staff at Taos Orthopaedic. B. Vigil

II have had a great experience. I came to Dr. Marvel after struggling with a hip issue which I had dealt with for over 5 years with another Orthopedic Doctor. This doctor was not listening or willing to help me. Dr Marvel looked at my XRays and determined I was bone on bone and recommended surgery. My surgery was a success and I am now living without pain.

All the positive things mentioned about Dr. Marvil are true! He is highly skilled as evidenced by my greatly improved hip which was replaced recently. He is also very easy to communicate with, is attentive, and his pre-op and post-op care were excellent. I would recommend this surgeon to anyone. He is a gift to our community.
