Dr. Savitha Balaraman, MD

I appreciate the thoroughness and the care that she provides for her patients. She is kind, knowledgable and explains everything so that you understand the what and why’s. Although you do have to wait you are provide with care and concern by the staff who all try to be accommodating. Dr. Bellarman helped my daughter in law and after being diagnosed myself and going to another oncologist who was quicker to disregard my concerns and didn’t make me feel confident that they had my best interest at heart because I was over 70. I decided to go to Dr. Bellaraman and never looked back and highly recommend her.

Dr Balaraman saved my life!!! I choose her as my Oncologist after my very close friend who also had breast cancer was under the care of Dr. Balaraman. Now pack your patience when you have an appointment because Dr Balaraman does fall behind on schedule. the reason for this is because she give each patient all the time that they need when seeing her. Dr B will not rush anyone through a visit to stay on schedule. And personally I was totally ok with that. Each visit with Dr B she sat down and listened to my concerns and complications with my chemo proccess. I owe my life to Dr Balaramanshe and her staff are nothing short of AMAZING!

Dr. Balaraman is the most thorough, determined, dedicated, caring, and patient centered doctor! She is highly skilled, most knowledgeable, and very thorough. I can’t say there’s the world’s best follow-up outside the office (given her vast patient load or her office staff’s thoroughness with follow-up) so sometimes a request like a call back slip through, or other minor thing or two. But her diagnoses and treatment plans are the most thoroughly researched and developed specific best plan for the patient. I’ve learned during my current (2-18 to 2-?) Beaumont-Royal Oak hospital stay that she is very highly respected and revered by her peers and associates throughout the hospital. Dr. Balaraman gave me her cell number in 2020 when she first diagnosed my Non Hodgkin Lymphoma. There were admin/scheduling related problems this hospital visit that required immediate action to correct. I texted Dr. B. many times over the weekend and she instantly responded every time. I don’t think she did anything else over her weekend off than talk to and follow up with the hospital staff, and she got things resolved!) But most importantly she has me 1000% confident I’m in the very best hands I could hope to have been referred to! She will give you whatever time you need in appointments to ask anything that may be on your mind regarding diagnoses and/or treatment. She even takes a personal interest outside of healthcare in her patients, with wonderful “bed-side manner.” One can get the feeling that she’s just rushing through things and you may feel unimportant, but she is very productive with uncanny instant comprehension of the condition at hand and best treatment plan. Dr. Balaraman is usually under a heavy patient load in the office. But be patient, she’s extremely busy and spread fairly thin (I can’t imagine how she does it all) but you will end up benefiting greatly from all I’ve shared about Dr. B.!!!

Dr. Balaraman is caring, thourough and compassionate. She has been my oncologist for 3 years from the time I had stage IV cancer and still now with follow up treatments. Her staff is extremely helpful and kind. Her assistant Jen is also wonderful and caring. I'm grateful they are all in my corner.

Dr Balaraman has cared for my husband with stage 4 kidney cancer since 2015. He is in a very small statistical group of patients who are alive beyond 5 years of metastatic disease. She is a stellar human and an excellent doctor.

Dr Balaraman is our angel. My daughter was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer 10 1/2 years ago. She is still here with the help and love and care from this wonderful doctor. You will never find a better oncologist.

B cell lymphoma through my whole body and behind optic nerve. She brought me back from impossible conditions several times. She held my hand through most of it. Always told me exactly what was going on and made sure my family understood everything. The best doctor I have ever had. There should be more like her. I bet my life on her. I am still here

Dr. Balaraman was highly recommended to us by my sister’s pulmonologist. Once we met her we could understand why. During each visit she makes sure she answers all of our questions and never hurries us through our appointment time. If she needs information or wants to consult with one of my sister’s physicians she will actually call them while you are with her so you get instant feedback. She always treats my sister with the utmost respect and is one of the most compassionate physicians we have met so far in our cancer battle. Her kindness sets the tone for the entire office and that takes a little bit of the sting out of the horrible circumstances that brought us to her to begin with.

Dr. Balaraman shows great concern for my well being and treatment. Very easy to talk to and answers my questions. Her knowledge of Oncology and related medical conditions is far reaching. I am very satisfied with my selection of her for my oncologist.

Dr. B has been outstanding in my treatment. When ever an issue arises from either the chemo or the meds, a simple text message to her & she's on it!!! When you need a few minutes during your treatment appointments, she there to listen and advise. If your just want to get your treatment, she doesn't make you sit in the room and wait long periods of time like I've seen other Doctors do with their patients-that to me has more value then most will ever understand. Thanks Doc!!!!

I feel very blessed to have Dr. Balaraman as my doctor. She is not just extremely knowledgeable but very caring. She really listened to what I needed and I am thriving despite having stage 4 breast cancer, now NEAD five years! Every single specialist she has referred me to has been outstanding too. When I first started seeing her, there were long waits and it bothered her so she has found a way to work in a large practice, get the waiting time down, and still give her patients the time they need. Very caring support staff too.

She has been an "angel" to my wife Anna for the last 4 years. Anna has lung cancer that has metastasized to her breast and is in stage 4. She has been with us throughout our arduous experience. She has made us feel that we are her only patient in the way she has encouraged us and directed Anna treatment and improvement of life. From the first two years when I thought we might lose her, Dr Balaraman has always made us believe that we could win this fight by not giving up . We love her!

I have never had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Balaraman, but she saved my older sister's life from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2013-2014. She has now found something on one of her breast that her regular Dr. missed. I know she will be able to save my Sister's life again. I give her a 10 for the care that she gave to my sister earlier and will be giving to her as she goes through this process. Dr. Balaraman, you're the best!!!

My husband, who had muscular dystrophy since his teens and was in a wheelchair for the last 8 years, was given a diagnosis of stage 1V colon cancer which metastasized to his liver. His prognosis was two months to live. By the grace of God, Dr. Balaraman was sent to take my husband as her patient. With her prescribed educated treatment, and her genuine caring, encouraging, uplifting, accessible and sunshine personality, he lived over three good quality years! Thank you, and God Bless!

Extremely caring and competent physician who was always there for me during a very trying time in my life.

Dr. Balaraman is a no nonsense doctor. But,she cares for you like family. My dad had the worse case of prostate cancer and we didn't expect him to make it. Dr. Balaraman told me I will care for your.dad as I would my own. I believe she's done that and then some. My dad is in remission thank God and the doctor. He is doing very well. She's been there to answer every question I had. Bedside manner is awesome. Thank you Dr. Sativa Balaraman we love you! God bless you.

Although there may be a wait, especially if you aren't her 1st appointment, it's worth it. She is thorough, attentive, knowledgeable and caring. She provided excellent care to my mother until the very end.

Dr. Balaraman is one of the best physicians I have ever encountered. I have interacted with many physicians in my 70 years and she is not only very skilled in her specialty; she is an excellent communicator and has a level of compassion that is really wonderful.

Dr. Balaraman is extremely kind, thoughtful and compassionate, she shows support to all of her patients. Dr. Balaraman is also exceedingly knowledgeable and although very busy, she takes the time to answer any and all questions you may have and if there are any concerns they are addressed immediately.
