Deeply caring, intelligent, compassionate doctor.

Over long term: Disappointing. Ample time during appointments when available, but insufficient Information or referrals when needed. Substance of care lacking. Less personal psychotherapy and more neurological care and guidance would have been more beneficial to patient and caregiver.

Dr. Shafer is a neurologist who specializes in movement disorders. I highly recommend her because she is intelligent and is passionate about rare disorders. Dr. Shafer was thorough with her assessments, evaluates your medical history before you walk into the room, and is well-spoken with her explanations. There is not a lot of physicians like her who will take the time to listen to your concerns and be determined to find a solution. She has amazing bedside manners and does not rush you out the door. To her, you are not a number but a patient. She is a fantastic physician and come highly recommended by this Registered Nurse.

Dr Shafer is very caring and a good listener. She is nice but firm in a good way sometimes too.

Dr Shafer is generally nice but she is constantly ill prepared for our appointments, never seems to recall what was discussed before, doesn’t follow through on the treatment plans she recommends. I would constantly have to remind her what she suggested last time for treatment. The front office is generally unhelpful. At least when I would tell Dr Shaffer about the mistakes they would make she would be apologize on their behalf. Working with this office is really frustrating.

I've literally never had a more caring or compassionate doctor. Her expertise and commitment to patients makes her a double threat in the best possible way.
