BEWARE! ANNUAL PHYSICAL IS CHARGED!
Overall it was bad experience with the first day of the visit where the portal said New Patient Physical but I was made to do only New Patient Visit with $15 charge. I never paid money for new patient registration with previous provider. I somehow managed to get the annual physical done partially and the blood work was scheduled on 10/6 at 8:15 am. Though it was a routine and preventative care test part of annual physical which my Insurance covers 100%, SMG lab demanded me to pay $100 upfront and said it was Quest Diagnostics cost. I had a very stressful day calling people to resolve this but Quest mentioned that it is the hospital that is trying to charge because they don't charge me for preventative care or routine. There's lack of transparency that Nashoba Family Medicine has shown and made me to call my insurance, SMG patient financial team, Quest Diagnostics main and financial team, all of them told that they are not

It has been a great experience with Dr. Basu. I had problems with high blood pressure and high cholesterol before I changed my PCP to Dr. Basu. He has given me very low cost medicines, and it's very effective. My blood pressure and cholesterol level have been back to normal after few months he became my PCP, and still is after many years with Dr. Basu.

I have only seen him once but am very impressed. Dr. Basu is a good listener, respectful, clear and an excellent diagnostician. He gave me a choice of treatment approaches for my rerpiratory virus until he examined my nose. He then said he was prescribing antibiotics to prevent the blossoming of a bacterial virus. He also asked me if I felt miserable. I didn't at the time, but I am now feeling both miserable and grateful he nailed where I was heading.

He was abrupt, spoke over me and very arrogant. He told me I was fine & when I told him I wasn’t and I was going to go to the ER to get some pain meds cause my ear was killing me he was rude and said “ fine you want meds I’ll give them to you and walked out.So unprofessional n unethical. Went to ER I was diagnose w strep n ear infection

Straightforward, to the point and gets straight into my treatment(Not needing 40 appointments to get there, saves me time & money.). Listens to what I say and how I'm feeling. He answers the multitude of questions I usually have. He could be a warmer person, but that is not a requirement for me. Never had to wait more than 5 minutes and the front office has never given me a problem, which is why I drive so far to come here. (My appointments are usually before 9AM)

My experience with Dr. Basu was nothing pleasant. He was not gentle at performing some necessary procedures. He did hurt me once and when I expressed it, he simply said it had to be done. He didn't seem to listen to my comments. He displayed a very arrogant attitude and he made me so uncomfortable that I had to switch to another physician.

Not impressed. When my own doctor was out I saw Dr. Basu for urgent care. He was abrupt, belligerent, and rude. He prescribed medication for me and a follow up appointment for 5 days later. Never told me I should see improvement in 24 hrs. 2 days later I was getting worse and had to go to the emergency room. I was told Dr Basu prescribed too low a dose, and told split it up 4 x a day instead of having me take the full dose at one time. Don't feel comfortable seeing him again.

I have had no issue with Dr. Basu since he became my PCP in September of 2016. He has always taken his time answering questions and explaining things in detail when I ask for more clarification if need be -- He has called me directly to make sure I got the results from certain tests. He is thorough and informed, and if he's not as friendly one day, I can deal with that. I totally agree that they can use to hire another part-time/full time receptionist. It gets annoying ~~

Front office staff clearly overwhelmed with too many tasks (scheduling, confirmations, labs) by too few individuals. Dr. Basu has terrible bedside manner and simply signed forms without reading. Terrible.
