Dr. Willimon was, coincidentally, referred to me by two completely separate physical therapists, both of whom regard him as one of the best doctors to repair a labral tear in the hip. Even though he is at CHOA, he does treat adults for this particular hip condition. Unfortunately, after utilizing several conservative treatment options and seeing a more detailed view of my hip, Dr. Willimon decided that I needed a total hip replacement. He gave me what I consider to be an excellent referral to an orthopedic surgeon who is ranked as one of the best in Atlanta and is technically so advanced in his surgery skills that he can perform the hip replacement using a less invasive approach. I’m thrilled with the referral. Thank you, Dr. Willimon! Dr. Willimon is highly regarded in his field. Additionally, he’s the Director of orthopedic quality for CHOA. I would not hesitate to recommend him for any patient looking for the best. He was always very gracious and unlike other orthopedists I saw, he actually looked at everything, i.e., affected hip, spine, and undamaged hip whereas all other orthopedists that preceded him were only focused on the one hip and their area of specialty; they would very quickly wave me on to someone else - if you’ve been jostled around from one orthopedic surgeon to another, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. Dr. Willimom took the time late one Friday afternoon to give me the results of a test and to make his final recommendation; he also reached out to his referral on my behalf. By Monday morning, his referral’s staff was calling me to schedule my first appointment. I sincerely appreciate everything he did for me, and had he been able to repair the tear, which was too far gone, I would’ve been most comfortable with his decision and his surgery skills. Whenever I need medical care, I always look for the best I can afford. In the past, I’ve even traveled out of state for surgery to have one of the best doctors perform the procedure. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Willimon!

Dr. Willimon is an awesome Pediatric Orthopedist
I would absolutely recommend Dr. Willimon. My son had a basketball injury that injured the cartilage in his left knee. To correct this problem it called for two surgeries, first to remove the bad cartilage, and second to replace it with cells to grow new cartilage. Another doctor did the first surgery, but couldn't get the approval from insurance for the second surgery, leaving my son without the cartilage for months. In hindsight, I think God was leading us to Dr. Willimon to perform the second surgery. He did another procedure while implanting the cells to make sure my son would have the best outcome (which the first doctor hadn't mentioned). He was a very calming and reassuring presence when I was ready to fall apart. He gave us hope of a full recovery, talked everything over with us and answered all of our questions. He is very kind and compassionate in addition to being top in his field. My son has finally been able to resume sports which we weren't sure would happen!

Dr Wilimon repaired my son’s knee after a wrestling accident in February 2020.. He was so patient and kind and put us at ease because we were devastated when we received the mri results .. It has always been my son’s dream to play at a college level so this news hit my son pretty hard. But Dr Wilimon calmly explained what surgery and recovery would be like so we felt somewhat better. My son had surgery March 2020. His Acl was repaired as well as having a meniscus repair. My son worked very hard and because he had a wonderful surgeon and therapists he was back on the football field that Fall. Now after 18 months he was named one of the top lineman in the state with will be playing in college. I promise you the decision to have Dr Wilimon perform his surgery played a huge part in this!

My son was referred to Dr. Willimon after a labral tear and impingement on his right hip. Dr. Willimon was very patient, kind and he took a lot of time to answer all of our questions on what our next steps would be. He made sure we understood everything about the diagnosis and prognosis. During surgery there was an unexpected hiccup due to a hip fracture that had not yet healed. Instead of leaving it to heal on it’s on, Dr. Willimon opted to place a screw to give the stability his hip would need. He spent a good bit of time with us after surgery explaining everything in detail on what he had done, post op care and what to expect going forward. We are very thankful for the care and concern he took over our son and always thinking about our sons dreams of playing college football and doing everything in his power to attend to his needs in a way that would allow that to happen. It’s hard to find doctors who truly care as much as what we experienced with Dr. Willimon.

On 1/23/21 my daughter had a tumbling accident where she broke her left elbow. The fracture was compound and my baby was in critical condition. As soon as we arrived at children's each healthcare professional was hands on and moved swiftly with providing my daughter care. She had a small procedure that night done by the surgeon on call. He was fantastic and was able to get our daughter prepped for surgery the next morning with Dr. Willimon. This was a very traumatic experience for our family but Dr. Willimon took great care of our daughter. He made her feel comfortable and reassured us all that everything was going to be ok. He took time to explain everything that he did in surgery and gave us good instructions on her post op care. She was in the cast for about four weeks and had little to no scarring where her stitches were. She was officially cleared a few months after that and was able to slowly get back to doing what she loves. Thank you so much Dr. Willimon. We're so grateful!

I can't say enough about my experience with Dr. Willimon. I came to him as a 47 year old in 24x7 pain After seeing 7 other doctors of varying specialties that could NOT figure out what was wrong with me resulting in various different failed treatments/surgery! Dr. Willimon knew right away this was my hip and suspected a labral tear. He took conservative measures verifying that surgery would be the best option for me. I was frustrated with this at first because I just wanted him to FIX me! Well, fix me he did! His kind, confident and assured manner put me at ease going into what could have been a very difficult surgery...labral repair with femoralplasty to fix FAI. I am currently 6 months PO and feel AMAZING! He has given me my life back. I am starting to run again. I am working out without pain. I can sit in a car for more than 20 minutes. I can't thank him enough for his patience and expertise in ACTUALLY fixing me!

I was referred to Dr. Willimon after finding a labral tear and bone impingement on my right hip. Dr. Willimon was so very patient and kind when he first met with me. He took a lot of time to answer all my questions about my diagnosis, MRI results, and prognosis. This is something that is very rare in the medical field and was so appreciated. His first visit with me he explained why he wanted me to start physical therapy and have an injection instead of jumping to surgery. This spoke volumes to me because it showed how much he valued me over just being a number and statistic. He encouraged me with each visit and took the time to help me understand that this was an important part of my recovery. He evaluated me for surgery and made sure I was a SAFE candidate and set me up for success. He checked on me after the surgery several times and would follow up when I reached out with any questions or concerns. He treated me as he would his own family. He deserves so much more than 5 stars!

This man could care less about your pain. No compassion. Makes you wait 2+ hours and then brushes you aside. Very unhelpful. Go elsewhere. Plenty of better doctors out there.

After months of being dismissed and written off by a prior specialist who refused to acknowledge our daughters pain from a Labral Tear and FAI we found Dr. Willimon. We were ironically referred by that same specialist to Dr. Willimon after we were told that our daughter had a "neurological problem" and that we should get a "second opinion because we questioned his expertise". As a mom it's hard to trust that someone else would be as passionate as I was to help our daughter Dr. Willimon was and you can trust him! His demeanor is warm and friendly. Everyone we worked with were sweet, kind, compassionate and set our spirits at ease on the day of surgery and after surgery. His office followed up and were authentically concerned about her well being. Every visit we felt that we had his full attention and weren't being rushed in order for him to move onto his next appointment. We are over the moon with the great service and support we received and our daughter is now free of pain.

My 13 yr. old son was a starting quarterback in middle school before he was in a horrible car accident that everyone said he would have long term injuries from. Dr. Willimon and his team took such amazing care of my son. He was so detailed-oriented taking extreme care during surgery. He treated my son as if it was his own child he was caring for. I was a wreck and he remained honest and patient ensuring we understood everything going on. He explained every process and left no detail to chance.

Dr. Willimon performed hip surgery on my son in 2015. My son had a great experience and a fast recovery. Dr. Willimon is amazingly accessible and really cares about his patients. Looks like my son will now need another surgery on his other side and we are confident he will have another great outcome with Willimon.

Willimon repaired a labral tear in my right hip in 2016. I didn't realize how much my injury hindered my day to day life until after the surgery. The down time was minimal and I was left with two, barely noticeable scars. Though still in pain from the procedure, I felt relief the minute I woke up after the surgery. Willimon was always very professional in follow ups and was quick to get you in and out of the office. I highly recommend Dr. Willimon!

Dr. Willimon was awesome from diagnosis to surgery and the follow up appointments. His Instructions were always very simple and he knows exactly what he’s doing. I had a torn pectoral from high school (4 years from before the surgery) and we were thinking that the muscle wouldn’t be able to reach where it needed to. But somehow he was able to massage the muscle enough and make it reach and it was the best possible scenario for the surgery. I highly recommend him to everyone with my full confiden

Dr. Willimon performed hip surgery on my son. We felt so confident in his abilities we didn't seek a second opinion. My son did so well the physical therapist took videos and sent them to Dr. Willimon for him to see. Unfortunately my son's other hip needs the same surgery, but we know we'll have another great outcome with Dr. Willimon.

My daughter broke her arm with a terrible break, needed screws and cast, Dr Willimon had surgery done in no time and my daughter is doing very well. For a young Dr to be as skilled as he is I have high expectations for him in the future. I'm not sure how much higher ranked he could go but I hope he reaches the top. He will remove screws from arm in 3 weeks so far so good I would image the removal will go as seamless as last time. I really appreciate your work Dr Willimon. Thanks Tyson Jones
