Dr. Samuel Perkins Jr, MD

Doctor Perkins performed a cholecystectomy on me in early December. He did a very thorough work up and testing as mine was not the usual case. He explained things carefully, kept me involved in the process and was very kind. His staff is amazing; very friendly and efficient. I probably am a pretty picky person being an active RN. I can’t speak highly enough about this practice and know I know why the hospital staff said they go to him and send their family members to him. And did I mention he cured all of the GI problems I’d been having for over 2 years. Wish I had seen him sooner.

Had my gallbladder removed on 2019 by Dr. Perkins on a Friday. Returned to the ER on the following Tuesday via ambulance due to the excruciating pain. Upon arrival the drs. said I was only “constipated”, Dr. Perkins included. I was admitted, and my general practitioner felt that I had other issues. I was continued to be treated for constipation, despite the excruciating pain, with minimal pain relief medication, until that Friday, when my GP requested that a HIDA scan be done. A bile leak was then found—which had been the problem THE WHOLE TIME. I was sent to Baptist Downtown where I underwent open abdominal surgery, where I CODED in the OR, my left lung collapsed, I was on life support for a day, spent two weeks in the hospital, had to RETURN to the hospital for another week and undergo ANOTHER procedure for an infection in my pelvic area from the surgery. I was out of work for over THREE months. I DO NOT recommend Dr. Perkins.

Dr. Perkins is everything everybody told me about him prior to my surgical procedure - he has an excellent reputation which I can now say I rate him among the best of the best. Prior to the procedure he explains everything in detail and answers any questions, and makes you feel comfortable . The procedure was successful and Dr. Perkins ensured that I did not have any discomfort. The ladies at the front desk are just fabulous! Thank you most sincerely to Dr. Perkins and his team.
