I had flooding of my kidneys. Another urologist did a procedure to reduce prostate swelling. My prostate was swollen, but the the procedure did not stop the kidney flooding. The urologist who did the procedure had no idea what the problem was. I went to 3 other urologists. One of them also had no idea and referred me to someone. The other 2 wanted to immediately do tangentially related surgeries. Dr. Elsamra immediately realized the flooding was caused by my spinal cord injury. He gave me medication for my actual condition and wrote detailed notes on everything.

Dr Elsamra correctly diagnosed a condition that for 6 years went undiagnosed with many other Drs and was ruining my health and quality of life. On my second visit I had answers and subsequently had robotic surgery with Dr Elsamra and since restored my health and my life. Forever grateful :)

I love Dr. Elsamra. From the very first visit he was by far the most compassionate and helpful doctor. Rare quality today. He saved me from making rash decisions. He listened to me cry and lose my mind. He performed a robotic procedure to repair my issue. He explained the procedure in full detail. He outlined the risks etc. I had minimal down time. I have to search for a scar because my small incisions healed so well. One year later all is perfect. I was very hesitant when I heard robotic but am thankful I had Dr. Elsamra operate on me. His expertise and precision saved my Kidney.

My husband had an uncommon and complicated urological problem with Ureter and Prostate issues. He also has a transplanted kidney. This Amazing doctor worked with the Nephrology department , and systematically approached the problem. His team of doctors and nurses are great. So is his office. The procedures were long drawn, and Dr Elsamra kept our sanity and Hope in place.Post surgery follow up was very satisfactory. After a horrible experience being misdiagnosed at Morristown Medical Center, I went to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for a second opinion. During my first appointment, the doctor at RWJ was able to properly diagnose a congenital abnormality and immediately referred me to Dr. Sammy Elsamra. Dr. Elsamra was very thorough in his diagnosis and treatment plan, and I underwent surgery in January to remove a large utricle cyst that had been improperly diagnosed as cancer while at Morristown Medical Center. Had this cyst not been properly diagnosed and removed, it would have lead to kidney failure. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Elsamra and his team. Dr. Elsamra thoroughly explained the surgery and what I could expect afterwards. His kindness and compassion from the moment I first met him until surgery was completed truly impressed me. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Elsamra and his team!

Performed a unique robot surgery that completely changed my life. After multiple attempts to remove uninary scar tissue by others, this doctor used a hi tech procedure to permanently fix. And it was done as same day surgery with no side effects. In addition to being highly skilled, Dr. Elsamra is a great person who clearly cares about his patients. Highly recommended.

I had robotic surgery for a partial removal of my kidney on May 13, 2023. He took the time to explain the procedure and answered my questions. The surgery was successful and I am cancer free. Total waste of time. Had 1:45 appointment, told to get there at at 1:30p. After 45 min, asked how much longer it would be as I had other appointments later in the day. Was told he wouldn’t be able to see me till at least 3. Either he’s been double booking or horrible schedule management. Could understand if he was even 45 minutes behind but almost an hour and half is horrible. Getting an appointment takes long enough, to have to cancel it because of poor scheduling compounds the frustration.

Dr, Elsamra performed a radical prostatectomy on me Oct 12th, 2022 after I was diagnosed at age 55 with stage II prostate cancer. I cannot say enough good things regarding him, his staff and the RWJ facility. He is extremely professional and personable, kind and patient. He took the time to address any questions or concerns that I had, both before and after surgery. Dr. Elsamra is very down to earth and there was absolutely no hint of a God complex from him. Based on my experience, I would not hesitate to recommend him as a surgeon to anyone experiencing the same issues. He is the absolutely the best at what he does. Initially, my local urologist recommended 2 surgeons. I chose Dr, Elsamra based on his excellent reviews and the reputation of RWJ hospital, even though it would mean a 2 1/2 hr drive each way. Despite the fact that the other surgeon and hospital option was closer to home, there is no question in my mind that when choosing Dr. Elsamra I made the right decision.

Due to a greatly enlarged prostate, I was unable to urinate for 7 months, without using a self catheter. Dr Elsamra did a new, minimally invasive, MRI Guided Biopsy, and then a few weeks later, a Robotic Simple Prostatectomy. Quick healing from both procedures. Very small scar from the Robotic surgery. 1 week after the robotic surgery, I was urinating on my own again, like a much younger man, and no issues. I am so thankful for my primary, who referred me to Dr Elsamra, for evaluation and treatment. Dr Elsamra a kind and gentle professional, explains everything in simple terms, and his skills with the robotic equipment is outstanding. He has truly changed and improved my life style going forward. I'll be forever grateful for his skill and care, in my time of need.

When it comes with prostate cancer, don't mess about, go directly to Dr. Elsamra. More than 4 years ago, he performed nerve saving prostatectomy, using robotic surgery. Now, no scars on my body, don't even see where the incisions were, and cancer free. I'm still doing my house landscaping and shoveling snow. What do want more if you are 80 years old?

Dr. Elsamra performed robotic surgery to remove a slow growing mass in my right kidney. It was minimally invasive and my recovery was quick. More importantly, Dr. Elsamra takes the time to listen to all of your concerns and thoroughly explains how the surgery will be performed. He has a warm bedside manner, and a great sense of humor! He truly understands that the psychological aspects of medical care are just as important as surgical skills and expertise. You definitely want him in your corner and consider myself very fortunate to have been referred to him.

My husband had been suffering for 10 years with a rare condition with his bladder where he was not able to urinate on his own. He had been self cathing for 10 years. With the knowledge and care of Dr Elsamra my husband’s bladder is functioning on its own and he is able to urinate on his own. I am truly grateful to have met Dr Elsamara. And for all the care,skill, compassion, and kindness he gave to my husband. I highly recommend him!!!

For me it was prostate cancer and an umbilical hernia. Dr. Elsamra took care of both during my robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy in August 2020. My prostate was buried, making it a difficult operation, but my recovery has been excellent. Dr. Elsamra’s extensive experience with this type of surgery was certainly a factor in this successful outcome. And as others have noted, he is a warm and caring human being, making sure that I was comfortable about what was being done and explaining things at the level of medical detail that was right for me. I’m sorry that he’s moving back to New Jersey, though as a father I certainly understand his family reasons. He is a definite loss for us here in Rhode Island. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Dr Elsamra did my robotic prostate removal surgery on 8/31/20. Everything from diagnosis to post op care was outstanding. I would highly recommend him for this proceedure. This was probably the scariest experience of my life but he put me & my girlfriend at ease and the entire process was successful and the outcome better than I expected! Dr. Sammy Elsamra performed Robotic Assisted Surgery, Minimally Invasive Surgery, to remove my cancerous prostate gland. He did a fantastic job. When we first met, he explained the options that were available to my wife and I. He explained everything in terms that were clear to understand. He took the time to listen and answer all of our questions. He is kind and respectful. My surgery was a complete success. No complications at all. I remained overnight in the hospital and came home the next day. I regained total urinary control in less than three months. It was necessary to remove nerves from one side of my body, which I was well aware of. Dr. Elsamra performed ‘nerve sparing’ on the opposite side and I am regaining sexual function as he said I would. I give Dr. Elsamra my highest recommendation. I’m glad I chose him as my surgeon. Maybe you should too!

I am a 32 year old female... I never thought I would have had to deal with Renal cancer but I did.... From the day I met this man for my first visit to my post op appointment, I was treated GREAT! With tears in my eyes I can honestly say he is a gift from GOD. He saved my life and gave my little children a smile when they saw mommy come out of surgery and into recovery CANCER FREE!!!!!
