Wonderful, friendly doctor
I am a new patient of Dr Akhtar. She is very cheerful, friendly and wonderful. She spent so much time with be asking about my entire history and I didnt not feel rushed. I've never had a PCP doctor give me so much attention and I left the office feeling so happy and taken care of. I fully recommend Dr Akhtar and have already referred my family and friends to her!

Fat Phobic and Dismissive; but Thoough
I was in need of an internal medicine PCP because of my age and issues that are complicated with my health situation. I am morbidly obese but eat very clean, no junk food, fast food, etc. Dr. Akhtar was visibly shaken when she saw me and made comments to me about my weight such as "how did this happen? what happened to you? Why are you so big?" She took a photo of my stomach to show me how fat I was and my skin on my lower abdomen. When I came out of the room, she and the nurse were at the nurses station and she was shaking her head and laughing about my issues and weight. I did not return. This month, I was asked to send her bloodwork, CT scans and such from KU Med and the ER (I've been sent 3 times by Dr's including her) . She ignored test results from an ER and that were taken at KU Med with numerous findings as incidental. Will never go back to her. The way she treats people that are large is unprofessional, fat phobic and only pushes them away from healthcare.

The dr. I am sure is a good dr. Just very hard for me to understand. She refused to fill my meds when she found out I made a new appt with another dr. Of course I didnt know if we would be compatible. She just dismissed me like yesterday's trash. The new dr. Called her office to try and get my refills. They lied about dismissing me as a patient. I have called everyday as directed for refills so far nothing. Not even a phone call. The meds I take you have to quit taking slowly.

She is wonderful. She doesn't have the "God complex" so many doctors have. She takes her time and the patient in front of her is the most important person in her world. And she has a sense of humor that is priceless - if this medicine thing doesn't work out, she could be a stand up.

She was excellent. This was my first time seeing her since I could not get in with my regular doctor. She went over my medical history as she had my records to refer to. She did not rush my visit and was very thorough. I was very pleased with her professionalism, compassion and treatmemt especially since I am not her regular patient. I agree with all her other reviews!

I would definitely recommend Dr. Akhtar. She’s very friendly and thorough. I love the way she explains things to her patient (me) while making suggestions for better health practices. My wait has never been long and I love the video screens that are in the rooms. When I have questions that put on the portal, I always get a prompt answer.

Absolutely love her, her nurse, and the staff. Dr. Akhtar is so cheerful when she walks in the room. She takes the time to make sure that you understand everything she has talked about at that visit. She genuinely seems to care about her patients. Having trust in a doctor means everything and I completely trust what she says. At one time her office was not covered by my insurance but I chose to continue seeing her.
