Shame on Dr. Shafizadeh
Really awful. I've been on low dose of anxiety medication for a few years now, which has truly turned my life around. Upon hearing that I've been feeling healthy lately, Dr. Shafizadeh asserted that I should plan on getting off this medication. We then continued into a conversation where I felt gas lit for wanting to stay on a medication that is making my life livable. Would not recommend if you like empathy in a doctor. Literally all of her 5 star reviews say something like 'no nonsense,' 'blunt,' 'doesn't sugar-coat,' which are not great qualities in a mental health care provider.

I’ve been treated by Dr. Shafizadeh for a year now for my clinical anxiety, and she has been incredibly helpful in deciding the best path of care while implementing personal tools to aid with the process of finding long-term solutions. She is direct, highly knowledgeable, and caring. I really appreciate her approach to this type of issue and it has helped me reframe my mindset. She recommended books and referenced studies to give a wholistic approach to my treatment. For that reason, I highly recommend her to anyone considering seeing her.

Avoid
One of the worst experiences I've ever had with a physician. I came in for a suggested follow up from a hospital visit. This situation was completely ignored. Instead she focused on symptoms of a stomach issue that she had seen in my previous medical history, which I did NOT ask for advice on and had nothing to do with the hospital visit. She interrupted me and spoke at me for around an hour. In the end, she gave an anxiety medication prescription which had NOTHING to do with my actual health situation (which, again, was never addressed, despite it being pretty serious). Of course, I did not fill it since I didn't ask for it at all. I later found out from a different provider that the anxiety medication would have very likely aggravated my stomach issue. So she couldn't even solve the problem that she chose to focus on. In all: an extremely condescending, drawn out, awful, and entirely unhelpful experience. I now avoid her at all costs.

My experience with Dr. Shafizadeh was unpleasant, and I would not suggest her to anyone seeking medical advice. She was discourteous and did not pay sufficient attention to my worries, displaying no empathy or compassion. Additionally, she repeatedly interrupted me while I was speaking and did not take my concerns seriously.

One of the best doctors I’ve ever seen. She doesn’t sugarcoat things, she is blunt and direct, and she is thorough. She is incredibly intelligent. I’ve had medical mysteries and she would never give up until we figured them out. She is caring and has taken the time to really get to know me as a patient of hers for 7 years now.

Totally condescending. Saw her for a travel consultation on Boynton Health at UMN and when she told me to get a typhoid shot (which I already had 2 years earlier) and I asked her of the cost, she responded, “I don’t know. Why?” I said, “I’m on a tight budget,” she responses “Well do you want typhoid? This is how you make these decisions.” Be more empathetic to your patients, who are poor students, or don’t work on a campus clinic, Dr. PS. Got the shot, come to find later my last one was enough.

Dr. Shafizadeh doesn't bow and scrape before her patients but she is a fantastic doctor whom I have seen for years. She is extremely professional, knows her stuff and I have always relied on her for her medical expertise and advice. Sadly, I can't see her anymore because of a change in my insurance but I highly recommend her to those heading into Boynton clinic for treatment.
