Dr. Safwat Shaker, MD

I did a 1 visit with his son in Glen Ridge and never again. He was only interested in pushing prescription by making assumptions. My husband used to see Dr. Salwa Shaker and he was most unprofessional and worse than his son. He wrote prescriptions for higher doses of medication without waiting for blood work to return amongst other things. Very dangerous in my opinion and lack emotion in my opinion.

Do no list to patient concerns, but give wrong advice regarding patient immediate needs

Worst doctor I experienced. I needed a medication I normally take for my condition/illness (which I took for 10 years) and he refused to give it to me and even tried to argue because it didn’t make sense that this was the only doctor that refused to give me a medication I needed. Ridiculous.

Dr shaker i have went to for many years and he and his children are fantastic. Very caring and compensate, i highly recommend their office and front end excellent especially Monica who i have been dealing with for years, i give them 5 stars.

I’m giving 2 stars instead of one for one reason & that is because the doctor was at least respectful of my vegan lifestyle in our appointments, which I appreciate. However, I saw him for the first time in 2 years (after a pandemic, where many people, myself included, gained weight due to less movement from staying home & other reasons) & he asked me if I had any complaints. I said something about having occasional body pains but overall not really, & his response was, “I HAVE A COMPLAINT!! You gained ___ pounds???” Of course as a doctor he has the right to be concerned about weight gain, but this was an incredibly rude and unprofessional way of addressing it. When he asked what was wrong, I told him I didn’t appreciate how he brought up my weight gain & instead of having a conversation about how he could approach the topic better or brainstorming solutions to my weight gain, he told me “go get blood work” kicking me out.

I have been a patient of Dr. Safwat Shaker since he started his practice. He is very thorough. His office staff is very efficient, helpful, and pleasant. His new office is great! I would recommend The Dr. to anyone looking for a new primary MD. I also like the convenience of Labcorp in the office.

I highly recommend Dr Shaker and team. I have seen Dr Safwat, Dr Mina and Dr David and all of them are extremely helpful and provide the best advices. They have been focused on my well being from day 1. Before seeing any specialist or even going through any surgery from a specialist, I always get Dr Shaker’s opinion.

Dr. Safwat Shaker has been my primary doctor for the past few years. He not only provides me with top-notch service and genuine care, he also refers me to top-notch specialists to ensure I am getting the appropriate medical attention for all my health issues. I suffer from diabetes, kidney failure, heart disease and gastritis. Two years ago my health was extremely and dangerously poor with these conditions. Today I feel much better. Although I am not "cured", Dr. Shaker is taking good care of me!

He as always took his time, listened to my health concerns, went over my chart very carefully in my presence, addressed areas that need special attention Very attentive & patient. He’s a kind considerate physician who will explain how we are going to treat the issue. I would highly recommend Dr. Shaker as a primary care physician. Sometimes I Thank God To Make Be Treated By Dr. Safwat Shaker Because of his outstanding professionalism and the way he cares about me as he always advises me with his best ability and knowledge. Dr. Shaker is one of the best known doctors in New Jersey I’ve been going to him for over 20 years and he always knows the problem. He is a great doctor and is highly recommended. He’s been my family doctor for a long time and he treats you like family.

Me and My wife been going to Dr. Shaker since 2004. I believe Dr. Shaker is the best Doctor in NJ. Dr. Shaker is knowledgeable and professional. He always listens to my Questions and answers them very thoughtfully. I recommend Dr. Shaker to all. The Nurse and Secretary are courteousness and very helpful also.

Dr. Shaker is an excellent physician. I have been going to him for years now and I have not had one complaint yet. I wish he was open every day of the week though.

Parking is difficult, staff is rude, office is dated, and the doc himself is so cheap that he turns off his fax machine and won't mail anything to his patients (is postage that big of an expense?). Overbooks patients, but so does everyone else. About the only positive I experienced was relative ease of getting an appointment.

Dr. Shaker is patient and efficient. He answered all of my questions and remained with me as long as I needed to feel comfortable. His staff is kind and reliable. It’s overall a great visit to the doctor.
