Gaslighting Doctor
I was so looking forward to Mayo to hopefully get some answers, whatever they may be. However, I was met with a doctor (Dr. Uitti) who was unfamiliar with my chart and seemed to make up his mind of his diagnosis before he even walked into the room. As soon as he heard I have anxiety, he said that was the cause of all my problems and I needed to see a psychiatrist. When we asked about my symptoms that in no way could be related to anxiety (extreme heat intolerance, frequent falls, etc.) and what would cause those he just shrugged his shoulders. He said he would refer me to endocrinology, which he never did. He couldn't wait to rush us out the door. He never asked any follow up questions about any of the problems I mentioned. He also said "if we do testing we are going to find something so I'm not going to do that." I have an abnormal brain MRI and he won't follow up to see if there have been any changes! At this point I feel like He does not belong in this “center of excellence” hospita

He was excellent with my mother, who is very young and has Parkinson diagnosis. He was so patient even though she doesn't speak English and we had an interpreter. His words made us cry and he helped us feel hopeful and positive about her disease, we traveled all the way from Tijuana, México, near California to see him and we would do it again.

Dr. Uitti could not have been more patient or informative. He ensured that my husband and I had all of our questions answered. He is well versed and able to "dumb down" the medical information without being condescending in any way. He came across as a very warm and caring individual. Loved his personality!

Dr Uitti was wonderful. He sat with my wife and I and explained everything and addressed my questions and concerns. He was patient with us and spent much time with us. No pressure for me to get the procedure done.

W/o reviewing my husband's records, based on the oral description & minimum examination, Dr. Uitti deemed all symptoms were made up. He even suggested my husband to gradually wane from all meds. Keep in mind, my husband already saw several neurologists, trained from Duke, Mayo, & Vanderbilt. They may disagree on the specific diagnosis, but none of them ever doubted about the symptoms. Another colleague confirmed my husband's symptoms the same day, but Uitti did not amend the final report.
