I question her ability to treat obesity
I went to her for obesity management. She did most of the talking, basically just repeating what was written in the handouts they provided. She didn't ask relevant questions about my struggles, what I eat, things I've tried, what my goals are, etc. She didn't listen to my concerns about a prescription medication and prescribed it anyway. She said I have insulin resistance but said nothing about how to manage it without meds. She pushed eating more protein and said NOTHING about fiber for my insulin resistance. She could not answer any questions about how to stick to the 1200 calorie, 100 g protein, 100 g carb plan. She kept saying it was non-restrictive and different from what I've done in the past. She made no sense and I got the feeling she is lacking in experience/knowledge. I've since gotten more help and information from weight groups on social media. Funny thing, Northwestern sends you a survey to rate her but only the 5 star reviews show up on their site.

×Post a ResponseAre you Dr. Patel?
Dr. Patel had been pleasant to work with for my yearly physicals but once I started getting some concerning symptoms (dizziness, extreme fatigue, increased migraines, decreased appetite) she gaslit me to thinking it was just anxiety. She pushed several antidepressants on me and when I pushed back saying I don't think that's it she said condescendingly "what do you need me to prove this isn't cancer?!" I should have said yes because here I am two years later having the same symptoms AND now a thyroid cancer diagnosis that had metastasized to my lymph nodes because it was left untreated. Wish she would have taken me more seriously and ruled out more serious conditions before making me feel like I'm crazy.
