Great Experience with Dr C and his staff per Knee
I highly recommend Orthopedic surgeon Dr Russell Cavallo as well as his entire staff team. He recently treated me for a 1 cm meniscus tear in my knee. EVERYTHING went well including the pre-operative appointments for diagnosis, the actual arthroscopic ('keyhole') surgery, and the post-operative appointments. It was great working with Dr C. His entire team at his office were also great to work with. AND, the surgery team at Stamford Health's Tulley Center were also fantastic. Everything went well, end-to-end. When you visit Dr C's office, you see the poster size photos of a lot of athletes (professional, college level and even high school) who signed the picture with a big THANKS to Dr C for getting them back into the game.

Great outcome for knee replacement surgery
Dr. Cavallo is totally knowledgeable about the knee and knee surgery. He took me from awful pain through multiple treatments prior to surgery. When the only outcome was surgery he performed fabulously - my right knee was a burden, I could barely walk - now after replacing my right knee I can walk, I have full range of motion and zero pain. Dr. Cavallo is thoughtful, has a great practice with highly professional staff. I could not have hoped for a better outcome.

Not at all happy Russell Cavallo
During my initial visit, there was no coordination between the doctor's side of the office and the radiology side so there was mass confusion scheduling me with the doctor and the necessary x-rays. Once I met with the doctor, I didn't think he took my case too seriously, and he didn't spend much time evaluating me. He sent me to PT, which only aggravated my condition, and I was directed to talk to Dr. Cavallo about that. I called his office and left a message, but no one ever bothered to call me back.So I setup an appointment with Dr. Nicholas Sgrignoli, and he was outstanding. He wanted me to call him Nick! He was caring and took his time. He wasn't happy with Cavallo's x-rays so he took new ones at his office. So I wouldn't hesitate referring someone to Dr. Sgrignoli, and I would caution against Russell Cavallo.

So happy
I was down to the wire and had to wait for Cardiac clearance. They waited for me without cancelling my surgery. It was just one day before and I still got it on time. Doc and his assistant, Lori, took care of that for me. Before and after surgery has gone so smoothly and I highly recommend them if you need knee replacement like me, consider them any time first

Meniscus Knee Surgery on My Left Knee.
Referred to Dr. Cavallo by my internal medicine doctor. 1st, the immediate availability to see Dr. Cavallo was excellent. 2nd, From the initial consultation visit (his office staff was 10 out of 10) through the X-ray & MRI diagnostic imaging phase took less than five days. Scheduled surgery quickly followed at Stamford Hospital Tully Center. The entire experience was "Fabulous" if one can call any surgery fabulous. 3rd, Personal inter-actions with Dr. Cavallo were always very empathetic and his course of planned action was always well explained. 4th, Surgery & follow-up physical therapy went flawlessly and recovery proceeded well. Dr. Cavallo & staff could teach a Master Class on Orthopedic Medical Care. 5th, Would recommend Dr. Cavallo without any reservations....He's the BEST!!

We were so fortunate to have been recommended to Dr. Cavallo for a 2nd opinion after our 1st doctor wanted to perform microfracture surgery to repair my wife's knee cartilage defect. Dr. Cavallo seemed more surprised (appalled) than we were when he heard this and confidently recommended OATS surgery which we later learned is the only way to return damaged hyaline cartilage to the defect for full recovery to athletic activity. He and his staff treated us respectfully, compassionately, and professionally. The surgery was 100% successful. After 9 months, my wife is pain free and eager to get back to tennis. Special thanks to Lori Rossini for handling all our administrative needs with charm and Physical Therapist James Caroleo for being gentle at first, then pushing her forward when it was time. We were in big trouble until Dr. Cavallo gave us hope and he and his team saved us. Thank you so much Dr. Cavallo, Lori, Velma, Brandy, Laura, Eric, James, Isaac, Kevin, and Monica.

We were so lucky to have been recommended to Dr. Cavallo for a 2nd opinion after the first dr wanted to perform microfracture knee surgery. Dr. Cavallo knew that OATS surgey was the only way to replace the damadged hayline cartiladge and did excellent work. 9 months later, my wife is pain free and eager to get back to the tennis courts. His whole team was sensitive, encouraging, and professional. Thank you so much.

I saw Dr. Cavallo for a knee injury. He examined, x-rayed, treated, and advised on follow-up care. His care was superb and thoughtful. The office was professional and considerate. This was the second time I consulted Dr. Cavallo ( shoulder previously). I was equally impressed by my previous consultation.

I have been seeing Dr. Cavallo for over six years now. Right from the start my problem with my knees was do to arthritis. Dr. Cavallo did not rush me into surgery, he took the time to explain alternative things I could do before going in for major surgery. I’ve had both knees done recently and I can’t thank Dr. Cavallo enough. He totally prepared me for the surgeries both mentally and physically by listening to my concerns and answering all my questions. He’s the best!!

He seems to only want to do operations without offering other alternatives. I had to ask him for a prescription for Physical Therapy (PT). After my 4 weeks of PT was completed, he never checked my progress and he seemed very disinterested in giving me any further help.
