Best Neurosurgeon Ever Experienced! Dr. Hwang was highly recommended by Dr. Richard Gayles to do a laminectomy on my spine. I was so pleased that immediately after waking from the surgery, I was pain free and able to walk without limping. Six weeks later, he performed an Anterior Certival Discectomy placing 3 spreaders in my neck. In spite of cautions that I might be unable to swallow or speak right away, I was able to do both and be released from the hospital the following morning. I am a 72 year old woman and feel like I’ve gotten my life back thanks to Dr. Hwang, his surgical and after-care team at HCA Hospital, Lake Monroe and his wonderful, caring office staff.

I was in a tremendous amount of pain. I was given a 1st opinion recommendation of spinal fusion (3 herniated discs and bad sciatica pain) by a larger FL healthcare group, with no real explanation or compassion. I went to Dr. Hwang for a 2nd opinion and, my experience was the opposite; he even offered an alternative option of total laminectomy. Although I was afraid, he made me feel comfortable with the procedure and gained my trust. The one on one attention he provided was more than exceptional; his HCA staff was also great, especially his nurse. Not only am I back to work but, I am healing well and should be playing basketball and flag football again soon. Thanks, for returning my quality of life. I was in complete sciatic pain He took care of me right away

Dr Hwang is simply the best spinal surgeon out there! I saw many surgeons prior to Dr. Hwang and they all said they would not touch me. "Too risky and complicated." Dr. Hwang also saw the risks and complications. Honestly, I thought he was going to also tell me no, as all the others did, but he is a real professional that puts his patients first and did my surgery! Still, during surgery, he said he had to "change his game plan in the OR" after he opened me up and ran into more of a nightmare than he expected. 'He adjusted' instead of stopping as the professional he is, he moved forward with my surgery and did an outstanding job! It's only been a month since surgery. I'm still in pain. But, I'm also still in the recovery stage! I'm expecting to keep feeling even better. I'm not nearly in the pain I was and I already have more movement in my neck than prior to the surgery. On top of everything, Dr Hwang is also a very pleasant person (personality wise). 'Thank you' Dr, Hwang!

Beware he is an incompetent surgeon he left a five inch fragment in my back n gave me a severe infection he lied to me I AM NOW IN A WHEELCHAIR MY WHOLE LIFE HAS CHANGED DUE TO HIM PERFORMING EMERGENCY LAMINECTOMY DECOMPRESSION This should not have happened

Dr Hwang is an amazing neurosurgeon!!! He’s operated on my lower spine and neck. He got me out of pain I’d been in for years & relieved my spinal cord compression. I’m saddened to just learn he’s relocated to Florida. What a wonderful surgeon!!!
