TERRIBLE dr!! Stay far away he does not care AT ALL about patients. Laziest dr I have ever encountered. He was on call for my regular dr (Dr Graham) who is incredibly responsive (and who also cares for her patients). Walgreens messed up my refill of a drug that is very dangerous to abrubptly discontinue. I an now on day 2 without it due to a refill issue. And this dr could have simply taken less than 60 seconds to kindly and with empathy approve a refill so I can be comfortable, and he simply replied with I can wait until the next business day because it is the weekend. I have never in 7 years called after all hours due to an Rx issue. This dr represents all that is terrible in our health care system.

Recently we had an appointment for my son with Professor Balabanov, he is amazing, best of the best, American doctors has to learn from him, Northwestern Medicine has to be proud and need more doctors like dr.Balabanov. Dr. Balabanov brings the diversity and uniqueness of the old school European doctors the best example of knowledge and image of true Doctors. I strongly recommend Dr. Balabanov to everyone. The words are not enough to explain everything about him.

I agree with previous post regarding case load. Slightly dismissive with symptoms. I have to remind him and the dept when it's time for bloodwork, MRI's etc. Shouldn't they tell me when I should be getting these things? If I don't reach out, then I could easily go a year without hearing from anyone.

The worst dr I have ever seen. Has 150 patients on his caseload, and therefore does not have time to spend with patients. Passes patients off to a nurse practictioner. Does not answer questions about treatments, just prescribes Tysabri. Zero patient care, can never get through to anyone in neuro dept.

I have been a patient of Dr. Balabanov for the past 5 years and he is the best neurologist I've ever seen. I feel heard when I see him, he is very knowledgable, and responds to all my questions and concerns. He has an excellent bedside manner that I had never experienced before with previous Neurologists, I feel that he truly cares about his patients well-being. I cannot continue to travel out of state but I want my new neurologist to consult with Dr. B because I trust his expertise.
