Would NOT recommend. Typical God complex.
I recently had an EMG and nerve conduction study performed by Dr. Ronald South, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. Despite experiencing bilateral symptoms, he only tested my left leg, stating that they “only test the worse side.” This approach felt incomplete, as a proper evaluation should compare both sides to ensure an accurate diagnosis. Additionally, the EMG portion was very limited, with only three puncture sites tested. Given my symptoms, a more thorough assessment—including evaluation of the lower leg and paraspinal muscles—seemed warranted. During the nerve conduction study, the technician noted that my left side required more electrical stimulation to elicit the correct response, indicating a possible abnormality. However, Dr. South did not address this or provide any explanation for the findings. His demeanor was dismissive. He was in and out of the room quickly, barely engaging in discussion, and made me feel as though my concerns were unimportant.

Just not the same
My mom was told to go see Dr. South or a pcp by another MD concerned about a headache with a new aura. She has seen Dr. South for 22+ yrs and trusted him to deal with it so she went to him. His APN told her she needed an MRI, but was really short with her Mom has taken a non-narcotic med for years, but she would not refill it w/o an MRI. She told her that she would order the MRI and ask Dr. South to see me . When mom went to check out, B. Hyde followed her out and told her that Dr. South is now refusing to see her any longer. She has no idea what happened, but is so upset to have lost a physician she trusted for years since he treated her meningitis then occipital neuralgia and migraines. Also, she saw that migraine w/o aura was noted on her chart when she has had auras all these years. The APN thinks it's serious enough for an MRI, but then talks him into refusing to see my mom and not order the MRI. Now, mom has a fever, headache, vomiting, loss of appetite, and fatigue.

Paragould's gain, Jonesboro's loss.
Dr. South has been my dr. for several years. My husband was seeing another neurologist in Jonesboro, who diagnosed him with Parkinsons.. He was so shaky he couldn't hold a cup or write. I made him an appt. with Dr. S and we walked in and Dr. S said "touch my finger". I thought Oh Boy, but Chuck touched his finger and he said You don't have P, you have essential tremors, put him on Inderal (sp.) and for several years until he passed away, he was steady as a rock. He has treated me for migrain unfortunately, I am allergic to most meds, but Dr. South tries, he has tried hard to find something I can tolerate that will help. He has always been kind and patient with me altho I probably drive him up the wall. :) The one med that helps ,drs. don't prescribe because of gov. saying so. As to office staff, some of them are really great but there is one nurse who is very rude. Talk to Dr. S and I am sure anything can be resolved. I would not have any other dr. He is a very caring person.

All that matters is mom is getting best care!
In the beginning I was concerned. Mom had been referred due to be diagnosed with dementia & Jonesboro isn’t swarming with neurologists. He didn’t listen to what I had to say regarding the medical history I had on mom, that infuriated me. Until, I discovered he was reading mom. He wasn’t pushing me away he was discovering mom before acknowledging all other that was said about her. I was impressed. He was developing his medical opinion plus taking that of others to make the best diagnosis for mom. If it wasn’t for Dr South’s knowledge, along with the care he has for his patients in developing the right medical needs and pan for them mom probably wouldn’t still be living at home alone caring for herself. She was diagnosed with dementia March of 2021. So regardless of all the other little quirks around the office I can look over that to have such an amazing doctor who has kept my mom home for us to have and hold privately..time is not on our side. Be thankful!

I love Dr. South. Honest and sincere!
Dr. South was always honest and sincere when it came to my parents Parkinson's and dementia illnesses. He was always willing to answer any questions or concerns that I had or if there were any treatment options to better their lives. When my mom's dementia progressed, he was very honest about what the medications were capable of doing and what they were not capable of doing anymore. I would recommend him to anyone! Because of his time spent with his patients, there is a wait time when you have an appointment, but understanding that his priority is his patients should always be considered.

Took a few months to get an appointment with this clinic. Staff was ok. But don’t expect any test results back any time soon. I had a nerve study test done on sept 24, it is now oct 21 and have yet to know anything. I called the clinic myself and was told they would call me as soon as Dr South got to the test results and had them available. My doctors office has called them twice and still no answer from them. It’s a shame a person has to work in such pain.

Absolutely incompetent staff. Forgot or neglected to refer me to a neurosurgeon in time that my mri was to old to use. Couldn’t afford another w/o insurance to get into surgeon . Asked to be referred to another in LR area. Never did that. Called for refills today and was told he was no longer seeing me. Don’t go here! Actually had to tell nurse what the doctor had just told her to do for me on one of visits. Never seen anything like it!

I would not recommend Dr. South. He refuses to see patients that are in the nursing home. My brother was a patient of his for several years but Dr. South refuses to see him because he is in the nursing home now.

My wife has been waiting 9 months for an appointment. They have called last minute and rescheduled 3 times so far and when calling to find out why the rescheduled lates the two ladies that I spoke with gave me 2 different reasons than the one left on my wife’s voice mail. Horrible customer service and way of treating patients.
