Dr. Busutil and his team performed an unnecessary Whipple procedure on my elderly father, I suspect because it provided a learning experience for the surgeons in residency/fellowship. Its a horrible procedure- removes a large part of the stomach, pancreas, and small intestine- and should never be done unless pancreatic cancer is confirmed (which was not the case with my father). He had serious complications. His health continued to deteriorate because of the surgery and he died 3 years later.

I have known Dr. Busuttil since my 1st transplant in 1986, 2nd in 2008, & 3rd in 2015. Autoimmune hepatitis There is no other Doctor I would trust with my life besides Dr. Busuttil. He is not only my transplant surgeon, he is also consider a part of my family. If you have the fortune of meeting Dr. B or having him involved in your surgery, consider youself winning the lottery. My aunt always refers to Dr. Busuttil as, The man with the Midas Touch! Boy is she right! Love you Dr. B!
