Poor diagnostician & rude treatment
Telehealth
I lived in a toxic mold house 15 years & I acquired toxic mold. This infectious disease & GI Dr refuses to believe people get toxic mold unless the person is dying in ICU! That is a bit too late! He only spent 50 minutes arguing with me. Gets zero referrals from me anymore. Lucky I am a doctor & I wrote for my own Voriconazole. After a few months I was much better!

Saved my Bacon
Just before our planned two-month trip to Hawaii, I was told that I had a bile duct stone that would have to be removed and that could at any time cause serious problems. With no more information than that available to us, including what might be possible if we stayed, we left anyway and literally walked in to Dr. Ah Loy's office unannounced. His staff was friendly, diligent and helpful in working with us on the paperwork required for anything to be done. Once through that, I got a call from Dr. Ah Loy. The call was Friday afternoon. At 6:30 a.m. on Monday, I checked into the hospital and the procedure was done two hours later. I cannot sufficiently express my gratitude to Dr. Ah Loy and his staff for the competent, caring and compassionate treatment I received.

Poor doctor with poor judgement
Told me to F/U immediately with him and his office within 30 days for severe esophageal erosion. Dr Ah Loy then refused to respond indefinitely, forcing me to travel off island to a provider that will.

Aloha plenty!
Dr. Ah Loy answered all my questions, was very responsive, and I felt like he was hearing me as a concerned person and not just another ho hum patient. Dr. Ah Loy has been in practice for many years and I found it remarkable that after all that time he still has a very empathetic manner of someone who really cares about his patients. My thanks and much aloha!

Run from this doctor. You will literally die waiting for treatment. His front office staff are appalling. Along with waiting weeks to return phone calls they are extremely rude and actually doubled the severity of my husband’s illness. Thank goodness we took him to Hilo Med Center where he had life saving surgery. No thanks to Ron Ahloy!

I needed a colonoscopy and was able to get a quick appointment with Dr. Ah Loy. I have nothing but good things to say about the doctor and staff. They were all both friendly and professional. Though I did not use sedation for the procedure, I had little pain as the doctor was careful. I feel that I can recommend this doctor without reservation.

Not an aggressive MD. Had 3 appointments with him each appointment he was condescending and demeaning. Staff on the other hand is outstanding. Very difficult to schedule appointments in a timely manner i.e. 3 plus week wait for new patients. He rushes through new patients (even after 3 visits) making you feel as if he could care less what issues you have or don't have. Sadly, he is only one of two Gastrointestinal Specialists on the Island of Hawaii.
