My 8 yr old son saw Dr Pottanat on 3 different occasions for a total of about 20mins (approx 5 mins each visit). My son is diagnosed with ADHD, Anxiety and Dyslexia. In that time Dr Pottanat basically told me my son has a behavior problem, he didn't think medication could help and that maybe I should call DCF for a home evaluation. Needless to say I stood up to walk out, Dr Pottanat said 'well I'll give you medication if that is what you want'. I stood there, accepted the prescription and called my pediatrician as soon as I got home. Very professionally my pediatrician (who has spent more time with my son in one visit than Dr P did in 3) said, I respectfully disagree that having a home eval is appropriate for your family and offered to help me navigate my son starting new medication while I was searching for a new Physiatrist. He was the most combative person I have ever dealt with and would not let me finish a sentence before throwing another question at me. Horrible experience

I NEVER leave negative reviews but this one is deserving and I concur with the other negative reviews. First red flag was his irritation that I had to bring my youngest child to initial appt. He was so shockingly rude and his questioning stealthily accusatory and judgemental, asking specific details to conversations with my child. Just odd. No bedside manner or compassion. He met my child for 20 min and ignored all diagnosis and opinions of myself, 2 pediatricians, 2 therapists and 4 teachers.

This Dr is rude and arrogant. Every time we were in there he made my son sit in a different chair by himself even though he wanted to sit with me. He was condescending in the way he spoke to me and made me feel bad about myself when we couldn’t get him into be seen for therapy within an appropriate time frame due to booking issues or my other child’s schedule. He clearly does not have kids and does not work well with kids. He is in the wrong job.

Roger was very helpful in finding the "best" care and direction for my child. It wasn't an in and out visit. He took the time to explain, all options for treatment. He was genuine. It was like he seemed to care about the future and what was best, not a quick fix.

My daughter started seeing Dr. Pottanat over a year ago. He has always been arrogant and condescending and we always felt like we were "on trial" with him,. as if he was waiting for us to say the wrong answer so he could pounce on us. Our last visit was the straw that broke the camel's back so to speak. He accused my teen and my husband and I of lying about her taking her medication. We have a new psychiatrist who is kind and respectful and we feel heard. The way that a psychiatrist should be.

Had an initial intake today with Dr. Pottanat. He was rude, arrogant, and ignorant. I can't even imagine him working with children. I left the appointment, which was for my daughter, feeling horrible about myself. I felt like I was on trial. Please do not take your child to this man. Biggest egotistical jerk I've met in a long time.

He does not talk with our child and get to know her as he should. He is bad at giving proper medication and he's difficult to get refills from. My daughter has gone without meds for weeks because he doesn't get back to me on refills. Take your kids some Where else!!!
