Dang good at what he does
First of all, I love this office because many of the nurses are bariatric patients themselves - including the nurse practitioner! They’ve been through it so you know they really know their stuff. Got some important advice just from the nurses during those first few weeks after surgery. Dr. De La Torre is friendly and has a great bedside manner. He explains things well and in a way that’s easy to understand in layman’s terms. Office is always super clean and nice. I have had complications from my gastric sleeve, but even so Dr. DLT took all my concerns seriously and was quick to investigate. I appreciate how thorough he’s been during that process.I was sleeved 4/4/2023 - down 75 pounds and counting!

Awesome
In 2011, Dr. Dela Torre performed a Ruen Y (Gastric bypass) on me. I was 330lbs. He assured I'd try to lose weight on my own and by the day of surgery, I was 303. He was kind and compassionate. At MU his staff and he explained everything to me and explained why I had to agree to post surgery visits for a year, which I did. I can say, he is a skilled surgeon and was even told that he'd invented the laproscopic bypass procedure. I trusted him with my life under the knife. In 2023, I weigh 174. Think about the impact he has had on my life. I've nothing but good things to say. Anyone who complains, I'd guess, is the very demonstration of "Karen."

I have never been treated so horribly by staff in my life. I waited 42 minutes for an appointment and after 30 minutes inquired with the receptionist, who said "they are busy". I was not seen by a Doctor for nearly an hour-only to find out that the scheduler set up the wrong appointment. I was very specific when I called in the appointment that I did not want surgery. I was there for nearly 2 hours and paid $40 for nothing. When I tried to get clarification to ensure that I was setting up the correct type of appointment, the scheduler would not confirm. I asked the receptionist for a call back from the office manager. I cannot afford to lose another 3 hours off from work and pay $40 to have another wrong appointment. The receptionist said the office manager would call me back that day. By 10 am the next day, I had not received a call back, so I called. When Bobbie did call, she said they are considering letting me go as a patient because I called too many times.....

My initial consultation with Dr. De La Torre was great! I went in thinking that I was going to get one procedure and after speaking with him he told me about another procedure that would work better for me. At first I was a bit apprehensive about the new procedure, but after he explained it to me I felt a lot better about it. I am really looking forward to working with him and the rest of his team as I begin my weight loss journey.
