Had hoped for a better patient encounter
Dr. Verklin arrived promptly and reviewed my record. Based on what he read, x-rays, his examination and our discussion, he presented only one treatment option. He did not listen to my concerns about the treatment option he presented. In fact, when I told him I lived in a two-story home and could not climb the stairs using the full leg brace he recommended, his only response was that I should go up and down the stair "on my butt." Further, I told him I was in constant knee pain. He said I should take ibuprofen. I said that I had tried that and it did not alleviate my pain. He said stronger medications could be addictive. In conclusion, I found Dr. Verklin to be rigid, insensitive, uncaring and self-absorbed.

I found him to completely lack empathy. I was in terrible pain. Couldn't bend my leg or put weight on it. So he then manually bent it without notice. After my screams died down he didn't even say sorry. Several days later I called to say I was worse and in great pain I was told there were no earlier appointments. Basically, tough it out. I guess that doesn't qualify as an emergency.

My 16 year old son fell off his skateboard on a Thursday evening. As this is a typical occurrence, I didn't think much of it. We saw Dr. Verklin on the Saturday morning. Despite Dr. V's "Hip Guy" not being in the office, he reached out, and conferred with his colleagues, Ultimately sending us to Hopkins, where our son underwent surgery, 3 pins in his bone! Thanks to Dr. Verklin, we addressed a very serious injury quickly, with very optimistic prognosis.

I went to this practice 3 times over the course of 2 years and they did nothing to help my increasing knee problems. The last visit Dr. Verklin even said "lose weight" and was very dismissive of my knee pain. I finally went to another doctor and he performed MRI and a knee arthoscopy and fixed torn meniscus and very roughed-up bones! This option was never even presented to me before. Don't waste your time or money with this practice, associated with hospital so maybe in favor of replacements.

I have been a patient of Dr.Verklin since he reconstructed my left knee in the winter of 1987. we have been through many trials concerning both my knees over the years. I wouldn't trust my knees to any other doctor.
