My husband just finished treatment for throat cancer. Dr. Vanderweele is amazing. He walked us through the treatments and side effects each step of the way. It was a hard road but we felt very confident and comfortable knowing he was with us. Very knowledgeable and caring.

Negative starts if I could
My mom a patient of Dr. Vanderweele for hematology and his staff is infuriating. The nurse that always answers the phone refuses to let her talk to him when needing information on medication and interactions. As if that isn't the worst of things, she is just an awful person. During these calls she is practically screaming at my mom. When my mom insisted she speak to the doctor herself, she got a very dismissive "I'll call you back later" and the nurse hung up. It's been a week my mom is very concerned about her health and has not received a call back. When she called to follow up the nurse was once again raising her voice and claiming she didn't know who my mom was. when reminded she said "oh right I forgot." Not only did the nurse give her misinformation on her condition the week prior, she condescendingly said "What are you worried about? It's not like you have Leukemia." She still has no idea what info on her health is correct. She is upset. DO BETTER.

My sister and i called him Dr. Death. From the first appointment he told my father that not to worry that his cancer would show as advancing in 3 months when they redid the CAT scan. My father lived in fear that 3 months. Turned out his cancer didn't advance at all. When his cancer advanced to his liver he didn't refer him to a liver cancer specialist. He just told my dad he had 3 months left to live. When we got him to a liver cancer specialist, that doctor said my dad had 2 years. He called my elderly, war veteran father "bud" everytime he saw him. Not sir or mr. Then, when my father got an infection he completely ignored it, saying a high WBC count was cause by chemo, causing my father to go septic. Then not even bothering to visit him in the hospital but lied in the hospital chart saying he spoke to my sister about my father (never happened). This doctor is vile coward.
